S2000 VS Older generation Vette
#12
Rims won't tell you anything. There is really no way of knowing for sure if the C4 Vette you raced has an LT4 versus an LT1. I'm not quite as familiar with C4's as I'm a C5 guy. I have driven an LT4 six-speed car (the only way they come) and the car moves down the road quite nicely. A very well driven LT4 can actually hit high 12's in the 1/4 mile bone stock.

The corvette could have been any year C4, from an '84 (unlikely) to a '96. It can be difficult to tell from outside, without looking at the dash or engine. A significant number of enthusiast owners of earlier C4's ('84 to '90) have updated to the '91 and up body. As an example, this corvette
is actually an '85, with the L98 motor, which was factory rated around 230/330 (this particular car dynoed at 230/330 rear wheel, and ran several 14.0 1/4's with no significant mods and a beginner driver, me)
but, more than likely you ran against a legitimate '91-up car with an inexperienced driver. Good story!
