s2000 vs. mustang 5.0
We were meeting one my friends at Pep boys and one of the guys there had a 92 5.0 with exhaust and new gears. We 1st race was from a roll about 20mph. We were dead even until 70mph then I pull and keep pulling so we slow down and race again. 2nd race from a roll about 5 mph same thing at 100mph I beat him about 3 car lengths. Then the dreaded 3 race from a stop different outcome he is beating by 5 car lengths out of the hole until 4th gear I pass him. Those mustangs have huge torque.

What Thoe99 meant was that you could have easily beat the Stang had you "launched" the car. ie. revved up to about 6000 rpm, "dropped" the clutch and floored it at the same time. He would not have had the jump on you then.

How low a gearing do you mean when you say the Stang had "low" gearing? I think normally, they have about mid 3.xx final drive. If it had "low" gearing like in the low 3.xx, then you could easily win with a proper launch. If it has 4.11's, you would not stand a chance (to its top speed) unless you also had "gears".

he told me he had new gears. He was bit suprised about the power of our s2k. Colorado is weird with the elevation,ex, turbo lose about .5 off 1/4 mile, vtec about 1 sec and non valve timing about 1.75 sec off from sea level up here
