No chance? What a load of rubbish! The S2000 has the advantage at higher speeds as most Elises start to run out of steam above 100mph..... which Elise do you have exactly?

I've done track days with Elises plenty of times and not once has an Elise been faster on the longer fast straights.....
Maybe its because the rover engine sucks compares to the 2zz toyota engine, and thats what you ran against. The elise does not run out of steam at 100mph. It will pull as hard as the s2000 all the way to 130mph.

Having driven against one and actually driving one are very different.

I love my s2000. But I rented an Elise in Las Vegas for a couple of days and I have to admit that they are faster in every situation.

OK I've not driven the Toyota engined Elise yet, the older rover engined ones generally aren't a match for the S2000 at higher speeds although they are quicker at lower speeds. The old Elise 190 and Exige are the only two that I've driven that still had some reserves left beyond 110mph.

Forgot you guys don't have many original Elises around over there

P.S. Thinking about it some more the Best Motoring video I mentioned previously has a new Toyota engined Elise...... it wasn't quicker than the S2000 on the straights and the guy was REALLY trying hard, out of the corner the Elise pulled up alongside (or even ahead) of the S2000 but along the straight the Honda pulled away

There was also the BestMotoring NA vs turbo battle, where a 2zz engines TOyota mr2 (same engine as the elise) beat the amuse s2000 badly.

Now since the elise weighs 300lbs less than MR2 I don't think the result would have been different.

Don't think I've seen that video..... do you know where theres a downloadable version?

I assume the MR2s engine was also in a much higher state of tune than the version in the Elise if if was up against the Amuse S2000?

forgot to mention that the MR2 was completly striped just pure metal, no dash, no air condition.... that Mr2 weight less that lotus elise.

Lotus elise in Europe weights about 1500 lbs and comes with no air condition, no abs, no air bargs, no power windows. Sotck MR2 weights 1850 lbs
