S2000 vs E46M3 (not standing start)
OK, we had a group of BMWCCA members gathering on Saturday. Since my BMW is not a M. So, it doesn't have much power to run with fellow CCA members. I opted to bring the S2000 and figure I can't be that slow in the group now.
Anyway, long story short. One of the E46M3 was driving really slow in front of me. I was keep waiting and waiting for speed to slow down enough for me to put into first gear in order to jump on him. I look at my speedo, "Yes 25MPH. It's time for first gear." I waited until the RPM goes to 7K RPM.
When 7K hits, I changed lane and stepped on it. My nose are just right next to his rear bumper. His car just launched forward in 2nd. When I hit 9K and shifting into 2nd, I realized I can move back into my lane right behind him. He inches away from me as both of us going through gears. (I thought he would get away a lot faster).
I don't remember how long, but when I was in my 4th gear. he is probably about 1 or 1.5 car length away from me. Afterwards, we chatted a little. Both of us went all out except I cheated (started in 1st).
This time, I make sure I am not going to standing start and run with a M3. I make sure the car is in optimum RPM and optimum gear. It was fun. Maybe next time I will do a standing start and see how badly I lose.

Awesome! I had a rolling start race with an E46 M3 as well from 1st gear. My results were just like yours. 1-1.5 car lengths. I too was surprised with how well I kept up with it. Only this time, I wasn't the cheater, the M3 was cause he punched it before me. The race ended at 4th gear as well.

S2000 runs high 13's, M3 runs low 13's. Put a good driver in an S2000, and an OK driver in the M3, and you get the type of race Stealthy_S2K and I had. But I guess that still must be to hard for you to believe. Stock for stock, an S2000 is a superior performing car over the E36 M3. Just cause one person beats an S2000 with his E36 M3, does that mean that he'll beat the next S2000 driver? Try putting a little logic into your daily life, great things will come from it!

That is very funny comment. I don't know if my english is that bad. I said, he started on 2nd gear. and, I started in first. It is pretty obvious to me that I didn't lose that bad. I am sure if he would downshift to 1st, he would dust me like I wasn't even there.
Also, look at my signature, it is not like I dunno how BMW performs or what to mod. I also know the owner of this E46M3. He was my friend's student in BMWCCA Driving School at MIS (Michigan Internation Speedway). Probably the only guy who is the same age as me there (low 20s). I dunno who you are or where you came from. I think being an instructor in BMWCCA probably showed what kind of a driver I am.
Sorry if I take it too personally. I just laughed at the B/S part when I read it.

Actually Stealth I understand you. You never stated anything that was offensive toward the e46 m3. Pls dont take my post w/ a grain of salt.
VTEC, no actually I am all logic. Anyone can beat anyone, but in this particular case
I believe that no race is fair from a roll if the loser was in a higher gear. Before I go on could you describe in more detail about your encounter? If you raced from a rolling 1st were you guys in the same gear? If so, I have trouble believing you b/c of the torque advantage the m3 has. In addition, that's great that you think the S2000 is superior to the e36. Logically speaking, I think they are pretty equal as the e36 m3 has a torque advantage coming out of turns, and on the flip side the s2000 is much lighter so it has the capability of going into turns at a much faster speed. VTECH, you are just too opinionated to talk about logic as you stated
