Would someone explain to me why I care what a Nissan Altima owner thinks? For that matter, would someone explain to me why it even matters what car wins in a mindless drag race? Get on a road course, drive fast, and then talk smack - there's nothing impressive about slamming your foot to the firewall.
Not everyone feels that way. I do prefer road courses as well, but there is something satisfying about straight line speed sometimes.

Just so you know, drag racing is not a "mindless" race, it takes just as much focus as a road race. Just different things to concentrate on. Odds are if you miss a shift on one lap of several laps of a road race you won't lose, but make that same mistake in a drag race and you're toast. Bounce off the limiter? Same. It's different strokes for different folks, have to learn to see both sides of the coin. Enthusiasts are enthusiasts, whether in a straight line, an oval, or a road course.

Plus, being fast in a straight line isn't exactly a bad thing

im a newbie so... yeah

so i just picked up a s2000 and my cousin has a coupe 3.5 automatic.

he wants to run against me but i havent gotten the time yet.

S2000 AP1 vs Altima Coupe 3.5

he told me he had some CVT transmission. I mean i looked up it up on youtube... and it just basically stays at redline...

S2000 - 2800lbs - 240hp - RWD - 6speed (stock)
Altima - 3200lbs - 270hp - FWD - Automatic CVT (injen short ram intake)

altima coupe cvt 3.5

350z and g35 are both v6 3.5 also. but they are RWD
350- 306hp - RWD - 6 speed - 3200lbs
g35 - 298hp - RWD - 6 speed - 3400lbs

i mean if a ap1 goes against a 350z. most likely. a 350z would win. same with a g35.

350z and g35 is not much difference. other then 350z would be ahead by a bit

just curious. no need to flame. who would win in a race from a dig or a roll?

thanks...

i just want to know your opinion. and lets all be honest here =D

found a video

im guessing it was from a roll.
I'll beat an Altima, 350Z, and a G35. It's not really fair since I'm FI though.

On a serious note, why are you racing Altimas anyway?

S2k's aren't 1/4 milers. Good for low 14's if the driver is good. Good for low 15's or worse if the driver sucks.

It wouldn't suprise me if new Altima's also run low 14's or better, 14 is a pretty common number these days. And soon 13 will be the new 14, if it isn't already.

S2ks are made for the twisties. That's a tired old excuse - but it was true 10 years ago when low 14's beat most Nissans, and it's still true today.
wrong.

1/4 mile times at BEST:

s2000: 13.6
350z(non-HR):13.4
g35: 13.8
350z HR: 13.2

they all trap over 100 if driven right, except for the g35.
