Default Road and Track SC S2000

Sept 02 Article on the new Vortech SC.

Hard Data: Stock S2000 14.1 @ 99mph / 5.4 0-60

Vortech cooled charged 8psi 4,999.00 (gives additional 118 bph)

13.8 @ 105.6 mph. 5.5 0-60
0-60

"power is stone stock up to 4000 rpm"
"3.5 psi at 6000 rpm"
" some may bemoan the Vortech blower for not giving the S 2000
a shot of what it doesnt have-low rpm torque-"

After reading the race below with the M roadster vs the Vortech S2000 it sounds like in the real world it may be faster than represented here

ive always thought that.... the car only makes peak boost at lik 8 grand..... that leaves 1k rpm left to run with? thats insane... i dont know what to believe anymore... i dont trust road and tracks numbers.. they are always too slow.. however their point with the boost is valid and makes lots of sense

Can someone please tell me how the 0-60 time on a stock s2k is faster then a SC'ed s2k.

More power = more traction problems. On the other side of the coin the SC could potentially slow the car down in the lower RPM's due to the parasitic drag. Untill you start making boost you are actually making less than stock power. Due to the S2000's low torque, this could possibly be the case. The ET difference is a joke, but 7MPH is nothing to sneeze at. With a hard launch and good traction low 13's should be attainable. It would interesting to see a breakdown of the entire run.

I personally haven't seen any SC2000 breaking into 12secs yet from this board.
But if anyone else has seen it, I would be more than glad to hear about it.

Now, this brings a good point to other thread. How did KaiWang's stock S54 M Coupe lose to SC2000 by that much margin???
Properly driven S54 M Coupe does high 12s all day long. With a regular joe in its driver's seat, it does low 13s.
Interesting indeed. Either that SC2000 does mid 12s all day long or KaiWang did not take his car to the limit.
Otherwise, I just have real hard time understanding what happened in those videos...Oh well, but it's on videos...
Words mean so little when it's on video...

Oh, that 13.8sec number, it's aweful. I have no doubt that SC2000 can do low 13s without breaking too much sweat.
This magazine always post worst numbers out of them all...

I think he mixed his numbers, the regular S2000 did 5.5 sec, the SC S2000 did the 5.4. Yes, this magazine seems to get the worst number out of the three big magazines, maybe they don't do clutch drops, or speedshifting. I have to believe a low 13 sec, 13 flat time for the SC S2000. I have seen, and read about 14 flat, high 13's for s stock S2000. With 118 hp extra it has to drop much more time off of it.

About 13.54sec, my friend (who did 13.6 in S2000) drove 12.56 in a stock S54 M Roadster. I think that says plenty?
I would like to consider myself a good driver but I haven't been to any track yet.
I did own a few other sports cars and drive them hard with occasional street races but that doesn't really say anything, IMO.
So I am not in a position to say anything about KaiWang's numbers. For all I know, I could be pulling worse numbers even with all the mods I have. I guess other drivers will have to test against my car and see?

But, going back to the topic, I think SCed S2000 is capable of doing very low 13s to flat 13s. I am sure it could do 12s with proper tuning, but I just haven't seen it yet.

Oh, and about that Vortech SCed S2000's dyno number on Mustang Dyno...
My co-worker's almost stock (he has CAI) S2000 pulled about 200 to the wheels (mustang dyno, of course).
That SCed S2000 pulled only 260. That's about 60hp gain to the wheels. If "very rough rule of thumb" applies to this situation (every 10hp gain equals .1 sec off 1/4 run), that is 13 sec flat with my friend in it. But he is very experienced drag racer and pulled 13.6 in stock S2000. So what do you guys think? 14 sec flat average for stock S2000, and about mid to low 13s for average SCed S2000 sound about right? I understand about all other variables but if we are applying rice boy rule of thumb method, I think low 13s sounds about right...
