295-hp, 255-lb-ft, 6-speed and 2948 lbs. My guess is the Cayman S driver was not trying to race you.

Yeah, I've never been in a race before, I must have been mistaken. God knows the S consistently gets beaten by people who aren't even trying.

so you should have tried to race him....
Why didn't you try?

better luck next time...

was the before or after lunch?

Just playing around....
1 car back good run

I bet the cost of the Cayman is twice the S2000 price

Id take the S2000 and $30k in the bank

Gee, I guess I don't have your street racing credentials. I would have thought a car that runs LOW 13s at about ~106 would have put more distance on you if the driver was really going for it? Or maybe he just sucks?

So would I, that was the whole point of the original post.

Who knows, maybe he did suck. Or maybe he only had the car for a few days and wasn't used to it yet. Maybe with a longer break in they get a little faster.

Neither of us hard launched, it was just a friendly run from a highway onramp red light.

Sure sounded good though. Nicer exhaust note than I think I've ever heard on a Porsche.

Looking forward to seeing one of those around here. I've heard a lot of good things about that car (better handling than the 911 is one of those).

If you had a passenger (a heavy one at that), your 0-60 time of 5.5 may be quite ambitious. Maybe closer to 5.6 or 5.7.

If the Cayman does it in 5.1, the difference between the two cars is definitely half a second, and thus several car lengths (if I'm not mistaken... I might be).

I think what might have happened, is that the owner had no fully broken in his car, and was shifting early. Maybe the reason why he did not pull away from you quite as much, as he "should" have (if we think about it, but once again, he might also have been just a 'normal' stick driver).

Still, when all is said and done, you did well.

Also realize that the Cayman S literally have JUST come out. That engine is probably as green as a forest. Give it a few thousand miles and the results might be a bit different. Believable story.
