Ran another LS1 tonite at the street races (ahem... legally sanctioned event)
Ran a guy with a camaro Z28, stick shift, stock LS1. We went for best of 3. First race I got a horrible launch, slipped the clutch and just sucked. He whomped me pretty good. Second race i dropped a bit lower rpm, and got the jump on him. Maintained the lead, and then he missed 2nd gear. So I took that one. Third race, I got a great launch again, and took the lead, VTEC kicked in and held it there, he started to pull a bit through 2nd, but then I held him off through 3rd, and kept the lead til he let off. (he knew he wouldnt take me before the 1/4 mile point).
Blah blah blah, yeah BS BS BS. I know I will hear it all. But this time I got every damn race on video. If someone wants to host, I'll be glad to offer up my proof.

Not sure, but each file will be about 15 seconds or so worth. Some shorter if there was an obvious winner. (ie, the first race). I have to edit the video to seperate the 3 races yet, since I've only just downloaded all of last night's footage onto my computer. I wouldn't think more than maybe 2 or 3 meg a race. (that might be estimating a big bigger than it will be)

Please excuse my ignorance but how can you miss 2nd gear? I've been driving a stick now for 5 years and don't think i have ever missed going from 1st-2nd gear. I can understand missing 3rd 4th or 5th and even going to the wrong gear in a downshift but missing 1st-2nd???

Since the 1-2 shift has the highest change ratio, it's possible for the synchromesh to not quite do it's job. I ground the 1-2 shift about seven times in the five months I owned my Corvette, and it's got the same T56 tranny (save for bellhousing and shift linkage) that the F-bodies have. It only ever happenned when I was pushing the car, and even then, not that often.
I don't doubt that it happens.

GOOOOOOD Kill
I think you should post the VID cuz there are too many "Nah" sayers outthere.
They think LS1 is bullet proof or somethang.....
They are just another GM to me
(exception of CorveTTE)
Your theory is that good driver in S2k could beat a BAD BAD driver in LS1 on any given day and I'm with you man

Yeah I will post the vids as soon as I find someplace to post them. I have to try to find some cheap web site space to post them up since I can't find someone to host.
As for missing 2nd gear, it happens to me if I redline 1st gear..... then 2nd gear grinds. Not always, but sometimes. So I usually try to shift at 8500-8600 rpm. I usually get my best times when I do that as well.
Got more footage last night. Saw an acura integra (all motor from what I understand) walk a lightly modded WS6 LS1 (6-speed)..... twice.
