Raced a Late model SVT Cobra

Raced a Late model SVT Cobra
I was headed home from work in my '04 S2000. Its stock. I noticed this really nice SVT Cobra coming up behind me in the lane next to me. When he got next to me, he slowed and revved a little. Those cars sound really mean. It was a beauty. We were in pretty heavy traffic so I just drove on normally, admiring his car. About ten minutes later we were stopped at a light, with him right behind me. There was in front of us about 3 miles of staight highway until we would hit the next light. No visible trafic. There was another car directly to my left and the Cobra and I were in the right hand lane. The Cobra was really revving, so I knew he would play. I did not launch since the Cobra was going to have to wait anyway until the car to my left was behind the two of us before the Cobra could pull into the left lane and make a real go of it. This forced the Cobra to make a very modest start. By then I should be nearer my power band. The light turned green and I gave it all it was worth. Sure enough the Cobra pulled in the left lane when he had passed the car to the left of us and his car was really howling. When I hit 95-100, the Cobra still had not passed me yet but I knew it was gaining on me fast and was right at my door. At that point, we were closing fast on a car in my lane. I shut it down just enough to keep from running up on the guy's rear end, and the Cobra blew past me. I swerved over into the Cobra's lane just in time to see the Cobra disappear over the next rise. I lost too much momentum and never seen the Cobra again. I figure the conditions of the start made things much more competitive, however I was still a little surprised he did not pass me sooner. I would estimate the run was between 1/4 to 1/2 mile. It was an enjoyable death.

He should've passed you by 90-100 even with your head start, perhaps no traction? Is it cold where you are right now? I break the rear loose in 3rd now that's it's so cold around where I am.

It was pretty cool that day. About 35 degrees. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. I wasn't really watching him that close. Keeping my eyes on the road. I just know I could hear him behind me all the way, and he was really getting on it.

If we are talking about 99 cobra's then yes they are mid to low 13 sec cars... 03-04 cobras are a way diff ball game. They are mid to high 12 sec cars out of the box. Pretty nasty.

I have taken a few super sports, and a modded 97' cobra. Have some on video if you search. Not that my car is faster, probaly just a better driver and launch harder than they do.
so are we talking about the factory supercharged ones, or the NA ones with 320 hp? it would make more sense if it was a 99-02.
