Question: Stock S2000 versus a stock Late-80's Vette. . .
Just wondering how our car would match-up. . . I was driving home from Burger King last night, when a couple guys in a mid/late 80's corvette started revving. . . I made a left at the light, they mashed it and went straight. . .
But, it got me thinking. . . How much power/how fast were those vettes without modifications. . .

I've raced or tried to race (2) late-80's Vettes. The ones I came up against looked stock (at least from what I could see and hear) and I was also stock. I raced one from a redlight to about 90 and I was ahead by about 2 cars. The other race from a roll on the freeway from 70 to about 110; he got the jump and I caught up after about 2 seconds and ran neck and neck after that until we slowed for traffic. Next time, just take them on. Actually, any car that wants "some" -- be a sport and give them "some".

It depends....
The L98's that came in the later 80's were torque monsters. They are great stoplight cars, but really fall off after 60 or so. Most that I see run low 14's in the quarter so that shows that they are pretty strong low end, but aren't near as strong higher in the revs.
I'd say be careful on a stoplight run, but it'd be a good race on the highway. Just make sure the taillights are circles and you're fine.
