It's not an issue of flow, it's an issue of cylinder pressure.

it's most certainly a flow issue.. The only reason you're gaining power with E85 is that "Ethanol specific energy at stoichiometric fuel air mixtures is actually higher than gasoline allowing a higher release of energy per lb of air burned than gasoline."

LOLZ. Dude...my car runs off the stuff, and I know exactly what it does. What you quoted is entirely wrong. I have to run 30+ percent more ethanol to equal the same combustion energy as gasoline. Internetz<Experience.
Here is a dyno of my buddy who runs off of E85 to give you an idea of how far we have progressed over the years:

Yeah, the usp gti was a huge deal a couple of years ago. Now those guys are playing with MKVs.

Yes, have you seen what they did a little over a month ago with their APR stage 3 MKV??

LOL, you'd think if you ran it, you'd know a bit more about it.. You need to run 30% more to equal gasoline AFR's due to the stoichiometric fuel mixture of E85 being about 30% less than gasoline. Man I love how you GTI guys come on here to edumacate all of us.. At any rate show me a K03 car that puts down more than 260whp, and then maybe I'll believe you that it's not a flow issue.
The difference in horsepower at a given lambda between the two fuels is negligible on a 1.8t (or any car with severe airflow limitations).
And it still doesn't change the fact that you need to run more of it to make the same power.
