i hear mk4's are faster than mk5 GTIs.. this true?

anyways
i have a friend with a Mk4 GTI VR6 with intake, exhaust and ecu chip, and back seats taken out (-150lbs he says)

I have raced him stock, i/h/e, and i/h (Stock exhaust) and ive beat him by about a length or so from a roll, and from 0-end of 5th i have him by 3-4 car lengths
in which he says, he then starts to come back because the one time we raced to that, i shifted into 6th and let off the gas but didnt brake so he thought he was pulling hardcore!
As far as the R32 goes, yes the MK4 outperforms the MK5 in pretty much everyway. Probably close to .5 faster in the 1/4, maily because DSG won't let you launch higher than 3100. But even on a road course it dominates.

The GTI is totally different story though, a stock MKV will stomp a MKIV, even chipped 1.8T < stock 2.0T.

The VR6 doesn't respond well to breather mods, and VR6 GTI's are pretty damn slow to begin with so I could definitely see you pulling pretty hard on your friend.

[QUOTE=dewey,Sep 28 2008, 09:11 PM] hmmm 3300 maybe my friend also has the 18" wheels as well, those are freaking heavy.. haha but from a roll i took him about 2-3 cars i know for sure, the next day he got a apr chip, the 5 hour trial version, i barely beat him like i would say my front bumper... those were from rolls at 45 mph, and from first gear roll he was ahead til i hit third and

Woah, woah, woah. Not so fast.

This is how a "chipped GTI vs S2000 should look like". Umm I don't think so. Did you hear how that s2000 was driven?? Not to mention the GTI took a jump.

Most stage 1 GTI MKV's will get pulled on by a stock s2000 by a good car or two. Once the GTI adds the downpipe to go to stage 2, it should be with in a car give or take either way.

That stage 2 you claim to have trapped @ 105.*, is that a basic stage 2 GTI MKV? Or is that a FULL bolt-on, FMIC, HPFP, discharge pipes, turboback, etc??? That makes a difference. But no basic stage 2 is trapping @ 105mph.

Most basic stage 2 GTI MKV's will trap between 99 and 102mph. Some do get 103, but I wouldn't call that an average. I've seen guys with a fuel pump that are struggling to break 100mph.

And not to mention, that GTI who traps @ 102, will probably be passed up by a car trapping ~ 100 as speeds start to increase into triple digits. With out an upgraded front mount, their tiny ko3 turbo loves to heat soak after a run or two, and they bleed away probably 7-8-9 pounds of boost near redline. Yes even stage 2.

My buddies AP1 with I/TP is dead even with this guys Revo stage 2 GTI, 6 speed, who come out to some of the spots, from 45 roll up till about 105mph....Then once he starts getting in the higher RPM's in 4th gear, he starts to pull on the GTI. Ending up a good car or 2 in front by 130.

Catch one with a front mount, fuel pump, and some bolt-ons, and I have no argument believing a basic bolt-on s2000 would get pulled. But basic stage 2 GTI is a drivers race with a well driven stock S2K.

yea i caught one with stage 2 or apr whatever forgot with fmic, meth, blah blah and he beat me by at most 2 cars... with when i had a reflash i was dead even depending on what mph roll we did.. but overall right now with all my mods, i can take a gti stage 2 with the goodies, ill run the same guy again this time i have 4.44 gears (only change) and he has a stage 3 clutch..

also he never wants to do a Dig run cause he goes i want the advantage at all times cause of his fwd spinning tires.... which i mean if you know how to launch you shouldnt have a problem wiht good tires

Yeah but with near 300ft.lbs. to the front wheels, and no LSD to top it off. You try pulling under a 2.1 60-ft. I'm sure with DR's or slicks it can be done. Just very difficult.

[B]I just said it's another way the race COULD go, an 06 with a free trial is the slowest "stage 1" GTI that anyone is ever going to see, even without a leaking pcv and or dv, that are both total garbage on the 06's. They
