I thought I'd offer my first Z06 encounter...

Actually, it was the first time I ever went to the track (which was last year). I went to the track with a couple vette buddies. We had a great time and they were showing me the finer points of drag racing. It so happened a Z06 that didn't come with us was there. I hadn't seen him run, but he had been running all day like the rest of us. It just so happened that my next run, I lined up with him. I looked over at him and he was all smiles. I smiled back but was a little intimidated. I only had an intake (not even cold air) and exhaust so I knew he had much more power than I did with less weight. My only chance was a hole shot and hope he can't drive. Lights turn and I turned a .003 reaction time (IHRA track = .503 time at NHRA). I was concentrating on getting traction. The track was prepared pretty well so I didn't have too much trouble. I took off, but only managed a 2.03 60' (was hoping for a 1.xx). I'm halfway down the track and I'm winning. I looked in my mirrors and saw this guy coming REAL FAST. GOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! We get to the finish line and I didn't know who won. I get to the tower for the slip. My 13.07 to his 13.11. I beat his time and his reaction time. The guy had a horrible time getting traction with a bad 60' but trapped 4mph higher than me. He was coming fast.

I talked to the guy and it was his first manual. Said he's still trying to learn. Very cool and it made me feel good. I beat the driver though, definetly not the car!

I had to line up against a Z06 the last time I was at the track. He was all on slicks and stuff, and I'm doing my casual 5,500 roll out launches. Yeah...he was gone. He didn't have any traction problems. Not near as embarrassing as the funny car that was already done with his 1/4 by the time I hit the 1/8th...that's just not cool.

just donaldson, xr1 and tpis....

next are gears and torque converter, but I may sell the car in favor of a 03 Z06. Not sure yet. Depends on money. The turbo kits are too high and far between right now.
