I'm coming to the racing people since I'm sure you all would know.
I hear the term BPU thrown around as a mod you can do to cars.
What does it stand for and what is it? I'm assuming its some type of turbo, can someone tell me what BPU stands for and what it basically does?
Thanks
P.S. I also saw where you can put one on TOP of already turbo cars like the Supra. Now I'm confused. Please explain this too.

BPU is a term heard most in the Supra circles. It stands for Base Performance Upgrade. There's a cheap little no-cost trick that can be done to 4th-gen turbo Supras to fool the fuel computer that adds about 60-80 RWHP, and for about $1500 US, you can see 400-420 RWHP...

You guys are close but here's what it entails:
1. Exhaust system
2. Downpipe (pipe after turbos that replaces catalytic convertors)
3. Boost controller to run higher boost
4. Boost cut controller (tells cpu to keep the fuel going even though boost is higher than stock)
Then there's the other minor stuff like air filter, cam gears, pulleys, intercooler, blah blah
And APU stand for Advanced - meaning single turbo conversion
