this is coming from an M3 owner (e36)...id rather drive the M5...That 3.2 in the M3 is pushing its limit....and i dont think it sounds very good. Dinan was able squeeze almost 100 more hp out of the 4.9L V8 in the M5. I know a guy with a Tubi exhaust on an 00' M5 and it sounds AWESOME

I don't know... those angel eyes that come standard on the new 5 series can be deceiving. The only way I can tell is if I get a look at the twin exhausts. Also, I'm not sure if it's an option or not, but I've seen quite a few non-M's with M5 wheels.
And about the kill... it's the streets. Whatever happens, probably happened.

Anyways the M5 as an overall car its a higher class than the M3, few reasons that it performs like an M3 while giving you the most luxury and confort, we drivers dont care much about comfort or luxury but the other half of the world does, and its very expensive.

personally i would go for the M5. its so much easier to drive, even if your not driving it hard the torque in it is enough to drive you around all day in 3rd without having to change gear

Magazine racing aside the M5 is faster than the E46 M3 by a slim margin. Street racing gives the edge to the M5 but again... the margin is slight. I have driven both extensively and raced them head to head numerous times. The M5 will generally win... however the M3 holds its own very well and has a shot every time. I have beaten M5's several times in my E46 M3 but generally believe that to be lesser driving skills on the part of the opponent. I rip S2000's apart by the way and don't see any way for a non-blown S2000 to run with an M5. The current generation M5 only comes in a manual.
