New M5 last night
Last night was beauityful out (like 50-55), and I saw a new (i'd say 02-03) metalic blue M5 bone stock...
1st we were rolling from 2nd, and threw 2nd it was even, then 3rd he started pulling, and kept pulling at the same steady pace through 4th, he had about 1 1/2 cars on me...then we get stuck together at the very next light (I swear sometimes I think somethings are meant to happen)... so we talked for a sec. then the other light was yellow so we started to rev, out the hole I jumped up about a car, and put another 1/2 just through 1st, then I hit 2nd nicely and was still in front, towards the end of 2nd I see him start gaining, I hit 3rd good also but by now he was on my back bumper, threw 3rd hes pulling back, and by the time it's time to hit 4th he's even, then 4th he just keeps on going and takes me by about 1/2 a car through 110-115 ish...Good race though, nice guy.
Does anyone know whos faster the M5 or M3?? (newer one's)

I have an M5 from 2001, and I one's raced an M3 convertible (e46 model).
I pulled about to car lenghts away from him. An M5 is a real torque monster as soon as it has 2000rpm its like a rocket. When I drove it the first time I couldn't change gear cause of the power on your body. An friend of mine owns an NSX and raced an M3 coupe. He said it was like the M3 was standing still. He also pulled about 2 lenghts from the M3. My opinion... M's are good looking and have great torque, but do you want something to play with.. Go for an S2k

I would have to disagree, not even counting the magazine #'s which put the M5 as faster), I have raced both these cars and the M3 is dead on with my car. I mean dead on. My friend has a 2002 and we raced each other at Palmdale 2X, then we swapped cars and raced each other 2X more and we were almost dead on again. It was ridiculous how close it was. In racing the M5, it would beat me consistently. from a roll, from the stop it was a bit worse. I once saw one on the track, but it really lost it's advantage. On the long straight at Buttonwillow it hauled as but the turns it just couldn't make in a decent fashion.
