Default my06 vs camaro

first off - i'm a fairly inexperienced racer. i don't time my 1/4 miles or 60' and i don't cruise around town looking for people to race on friday nights.

had an run with a late model camaro (don't know camaros too well, but it was the last camaro before they stopped making them). i'll try to describe this as best as possible...

i was behind him at a stop sign turning left onto a 4 lane highway (early morning, highway was empty with a 75mph speed limit). he turned first and already on the highway by the time i was halfway through my turn. i thought "why not", though i'm probably going to get killed. he was on the outside lane and i was about a car's length behind him on the inside lane. at that point we both went WOT and i was keeping up with him until about 85mph when i let off (didn't want to risk the ticket). from start to finish i lost between a 1/4 to a 1/2 car's length.

all in all, i was impressed with both cars. on one hand i was able to keep up with my limited skills and experience. obviously he had a head start and i'm pretty sure he was going at least 5 mph faster than me when we started, because i was just coming off the turn and he was already on the highway. on the other, the camaro definitely could have kept on going and would have killed me had we gone past 85mph~ like i said, i'm not smart on camaros, but he definitely had some work done on the car. it was plenty loud with dual exhausts but other than that i don't know what he had under the hood. it didn't look like a lower end camaro but it most likely wasn't an SS.

afterwards i passed him on the highway and gave him a honk and a wave and we went our separate ways~

any thoughts, kudos, or "you stupid idiot what were you thinking"???

:edit: btw, stock s2k...

If it was the last model Camaro and it was a V8, then it was a LS1. If so, you did pretty good.

the exhaust sounded v8 and sure pulled like one, but there's really no way of telling at this point...

Doesn't sound like much of a race to me.
