MY04 vs. Turbocharged Scion Tc
So there I was, taking a right onto an entrance ramp to the interstate when I spot a black Scion Tc behind me with what looked to be a front mount intercooler. This entrance ramp is pretty long (maybe 1/2 mile) and you can definitely get up to triple digits before you even get out onto the 75mph interstate. Anyway, I'm at about 45mph halfway down this ramp already with about 3 cars ahead of me lugging themselves out onto the interstate when I notice the guy in the Scion slowing down to gain some distance on me. Assuming that he was going to pull a ricer flyby around my left side and leave me stuck behind the slower cars with no opportunity to play, I slowed down also. As we get down near the interstate, I'm in 2nd gear waiting for him at 6k RPM. Sure enough, I see him all of a sudden start over taking me at a pretty good rate and he cuts out into the left lane as we enter the interstate (this road is very dead). By now, the couple of cars ahead of me were a pretty good distance in front of us leaving us nothing but two lanes of 75mph road, so as he gets up about 2 car lengths behind me in the other lane, I get on it in 2nd gear. I quickly stopped his rate of closure with his front bumper even with my rear bumper and by the time I was at the top of 3rd going into fourth, I started pulling on him. I shut down at the top of 4th gear and had pulled about 2 car lengths on him. He then slid over behind me and got off the very next exit before I could acknowledge him. I was impressed. That thing was pretty quick. I didn't even know they made turbo kits for those cars until now and I just found this site that shows Tc's with 350whp running mid 12's:

must be a custom kit?
What I didn't know is that it comes with a 2.4L VVT-i Toyota motor:
"More power - that's what you wanted from us. So we took that to our team of engineers and came back with a 2.4-liter dual overhead cam (DOHC) 16-valve EFI with Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i) technology. This - plus a compression ration of 9.6:1 - produce 160 hp @ 5,700 rpm and a hefty 163 lb.-ft. @ 4,000 rpm."
When you put boost into a large motor like that (well, large for a 4-cylinder), it's going to make big power. It already has as much torque as an S2k.

I read about a scion tc producing over 500fwhp...It was amazing..yet unusable...But at the time this was accomplised there was not a single aftermarket part for the car....EVERYTHING had to be made custom by tool and die companies...It was an amazing feet at that....plus the guy had it done in 8 weeks! !...Awesome....Then it was completely ruined when it threw 20's on it for the photoshoot
