MY04 vs mildly modded GTP
I was at a stoplight with a 97-02 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP next to me. He didn't rev or anything so I didn't even think he'll try to race me. By the time I was a car length behind, I realized that he punched it, I couldn't tell by his engine notes as it was really low and had no V8 rumble (since its S/C'd V6). I fell behind another car length in 2nd gear then it stayed like that until we hit 90 or so when he shut off. We met at some restaurant parking lot near by and I asked him what he had. He had intake, exhaust, cam and pully (and some minor mods I don't remember). I probably would have won if I launched but that doesn't matter, it sucks that some economy mid-size coupe can keep up with my car with light mods ;-/
They seem a lot faster than claimed 0-60 in 6.8 and 1/4 in low 15.

well, adding pulley increases thier boost, and intake+exhuast usually nets pretty good benifits on FI'd vehicles. SO while they claim those stock figures, it won't take much for a factory FI'd car to increase its 1/4th time a good bit.

i saw one with slicks run mid 14's at the track one day....nothing great.... most S2000's without a launch are probably running 15.0 in the Qtr, so i guess it should be fairly close.

I raced one once, mind you i am also supercharged, but he had upped boost and had a little more mods that i forget. But, we raced from a dig and once i hit vtec i pulled really really hard. i dont know if that was of any relavence.

GTP's are moving along quite nicely in the mod department. Many bolt-on cars are deep into the 13's. 14's is easy with them. Little more cash and you get 12's. Not my kind of style but they run well and much better than most give credit for.

Well, Grand Prixs dont drive like they are too heavy. Im not saying it is a sporty handling car but it corners much better than an old monte carlo i drove around used too. By old i mean 95 lol. Anyway when you say GTP can run mid 14's for little money, i guess this can be true. The only money you have to put into a grand prix to run mid 14's is the purchase price. I would say roughly 75% of the stock grand prixs i know run mid 14's stock. I ran mine to a 14.6@95 bone stock. I even had a buddy who ran 14.4@95 last nigth actually, bone stock. From there it isnt to hard to get to 13's. It only took me around 350 dollars for a pulley, airbox, and cutting out my resonator. That alone put me @ 13.939@98.27. From there i got better tires, cat back and a PCM and ran 13.72@99.33. I trapped 100mph a couple times. These cars are deffinatly not highway racers. I know mine isnt. The best thing is the low end torque, that gets you out of the whole, and these cars have a ton of it.
