My03 S2000 -vs- 01 Bmw 330 Ci

I've got a friend with an 01 with dinan intake & exhaust and stage 2 chip. He's got the 5 speed. I ran with him in my 350Z from a roll and walked him pretty good. I would say you should destroy an auto, especially from a roll. Good luck and be safe.

If you're any of a decent driver, you should have no problem with him in a drag race, course, or autocross. If you can't launch, do it from a roll, from about 25mph. No problem there either! Shift at redline, not 6K rpm, btw. After you've spanked him, tell him to suck your balls.

you should be able to take him very very easy.
my cousin has same car and I was in my ITR. We were in a highway, going about 60 MPH and i took him so easily it wasnt even funny. My ITR has hard time with S2Ks on the HWY.

THe 330ci is underpowered for the type of car that it is. When I was looking for a new car I test drove the 330. It is a little slugish and accelerated slower than 2000 Prelude.
It handeled well and was ver comforable to ride in. When I test drive the S... well lets just say I am VERY happy with my choice.
You should NO problem handing him his head.

u should walk him, the only 330 that would be even decent competition would be the awd 4dr sedan 5 spd, it will launch very good, the S will catch up in 3rdgear vtech, that is 60+, so the rwd auto would be a walk, go kick his ass

I don't know, I always thought 330i's were fairly quick. Not as quick as an S2000, but I think you'll get beat if you're not on your "A" game...
Coming from a non-owner, however. This is gauging the 330i against another car, which is then measured against an S2000. A straight six won't out-accelerate a V8 making more power at the same weight, but against a lighter car making more-less depending on how you measure power? I bet on the S2000 with a strong pull, but not a certain victory - if you are ahead at the start, you win. If not, you might not. Unless it is a slush-box, of course.
Since the last-gen M3 coupe is faster and handles better than the current 330i, and sells for less since it is used, why does anyone buy a 330i? I can find numerous examples of M3 coupes with under 50,000 miles for at least $10,000 less than a 2001 330i. Are there that many people financing BMWs? Is that a dumb question?

I'm with Saud. 5k launch and all he'll be seeing is your taillights. No contest. From a 25mph roll, he's toast also.
I'd not even sweat it, even if you mess up the launch a little, you'll still take him if you have room for a 60+ mph run.
Good luck and show that Bimmer who's the Boss.
