Have any of you raced a new gt or are you just bench racing with supposed numbers? Anyone remember the 99 cobra that had 320 stated hp but when called out on it ford admited that it overstated hp levels(not saying thats the case here but it has happend in the past). I raced a new gt coupe auto from a 50-155 when i was all stock. I admit i jumped him but i pulled him by a car and kept it till my car topped out(speedo said 155) and he crept back up on me pulling me by half a car when we shut it down, and we were doing over 150 for at least a full minute. Talk what you want but until you run one dont run your mouth about how it cant happen.

But just to keep things fair not too long after that i did run a new manual coupe with bolt ons that walked me pretty hard when i was stock.
I've raced a new GT coupe, but I don't count considering I was pushing over 400whp when I raced...I left him too far behind to see.

I think his first undoing was the front / rear balance coupled with 300 HP. Any idea what the f/r weight distribution is on those?
Yeah.... heavy and awkward in the front, light and loose in the rear. Perfect brick handling

You are too funny... I have raced an 04 supercharged mustang(550whp) while i was boosted. Did i lose... yes. Was it ugly... yes. What does any of this have to do with racing a stock gt. I only brought up the 99 cobra because Ford specficly overstated hp. Did i say that this may not be the case in the new ones... YES. Honestly if i didnt know my mustangs i OBVIOUSLY wouldnt have known about the power diffrence in the 99 cobravs the rest of the years. Or that they didnt make a cobra in MY00. DID i bring in the 03-04 SUPERCHARGED cobras? Or 01-04 non supercharged cobras (03-04 being refered to as the mach 1) NO.

FYI: Im not a rice or honda fan boy, i know you didnt say i was but i feel like you are talking to me as such. I have owned two mustangs (88 GT vert, 94 GT) and tried to buy an 03 cobra but the dealer wouldnt come off the price of it or give me anything near trade in value of the car i was trading(which just so happend to be my s2000). I appreciate domestics for their raw power just as much as i do the imports for their precision handling(read my sig).
I think you're reading into his comment way too much. From his sig, he's had a variety of vehicles, too...

I remember reading that. Ford offer to pay the individuals a small lump of change IIRC.

Ford issued a recall, and as I recall, paid to have the intake manifold extrude-honed, replaced exhaust that had been restricted during manufacturing, and basically left the owners with more power than the promised 320. Not the best situation, but handled far better than extending a warrantee or other BS.

I'm not sure how the incident is relevant, since Ford acknowledged the issue and rectified it immediately. It's not like they have a reputation for inflating numbers like some other companies.

= / the new GT's will do mid 13's all day..with up to a 106 trap STOCK...(witnessed at track many times). They average like a 103 trap where the S traps usually just a slither over 100 mph...on average. Don't know how someone could call them slow or a match for an s2000...

Not too worry... SVT learned from their mistake and made sure that the Cobras after that one didn't have that power deficency.. the 01 Cobra made the rated 320 hp, and we all know about 03/04 Cobra... (if you don't go race one)
i tried in my gf's ford escape. kind of a drivers race, i lost by about 78 car lengths, shut it down at about 40.

Torque wins races. Horsepower sells cars. The ugly truth.

Really? where did you learn that? I agree HP sells cars but you might want to go back to school on the TRQ theory. If that were the case the S2000 and Lotus Elise would be pulling screaming fast times like the Toyota corolla and Kia Sofia. Theres more to it then that sunny, thats the ugly truth

the truth is also an s2000 is outmatched by a car that traps 106 on the high end stock....vs a high end of 103 on the s2k...

should go drive one...
