^i'm gonna have to agree with joey... that 135 just looks so small! like someone kicked it in the ass and in the front and smooshed it on both sides... you'd think it would weigh alot less... at that point, i would rather just have the 335.

My next car will be a next gen s2k or a 135tii. Whichever comes first. I need my next car to be incredibly focused. Honda isnt playing games with the NSX replacement and I feel they'll continue with the s2k. They dont enter the sports car foray often, but when they do they TEAR IT UP.

I know BMW will build a more focused 135i. Perhaps after the facelift or to close off this generation. A lighter car equipped with the N54 should be quite sick.

A bone stock 335/135 will put down around 280RWHP...a full exhaust and aggressive tune (ie. Procede V3 along with an FMIC will be good for about 400-420RWHP. Also, in regards to weight..it's not just luxuries that make the 135/335 heavier, they are built like tanks. Go shut the door on an Acura TL...it's well made and has a tight feel but flimsy in comparison the the heavily re-inforced BMW doors.

regardless, you truly do seem to understand why the 135i is so heavy for its size - luxuries and amenities...that, and the facts that the 135i, as small as it is, is only marginally smaller than the 335i, and the N54 is not exactly a light-weight motor.
That's because I own one...LOL

You are right about the size difference being marginal. It does drive a whole lot different though. Drive them back to back and you will feel the difference.

And also be as fast if not faster than the M3.

A JB3 tunes 135/335 will run with an M3 in a straight line all day long. Change the rear sway and put the same size rims all around and it will run with it on a track as well.

I think BMW will do this when Honda get a 300/300 S2000.

Yeah, you are right there. We jacked up mine (10") on the rear point to get to the CDV and opened the door to see how much frame torque there was. We were surprised at NONE. The door opened and closed as if it was on the ground. REAL stiff frame.

care to post some mod lists and dyno proof? i have yet to see a 135i/335i only with a FMIC and an aggressive V3 tune reach the 400whp mark. i'm not calling you out, but, of the very few 135i's/335i's dynos i've seen above the 400whp mark, all of them had more than just a FMIC as a supporting mod to his/her aggressive tune (i.e. intake, full catless exhaust and downpipes, etc.).

example - this guy has far more than just V3 software and a FMIC:
Procede V3(tq values set at 92)
Race gas
AA intercooler
Twin air intakes
AE catless exhaust
RR catless dp's
403whp/396wtq

another example - this was a bone stock 335i tested first with PROcede V3 and then JB3:
PROCede V3 with 7-11 "Beta" map, peak boost: 15 psi on all 3 pulls:
321 rwhp
363 rwtq

JB3
On the boost gauge I saw 14 psi on one run, 13.8 psi on one run, and the others never got above 13.5 psi with most in the 13-13.2 psi range max:
337 rwhp
361 rwtq

...i don't see how a FMIC alone is going to bring the above numbers up to the 400whp mark.
The most aggressive tunes, DP's/02 sensor, cat backs, intakes and 93 oct seem to get close to or right at 400/400 depending on dyno (most seem to be a dyno jet) 390/390ish seems to be the norm.

I've not really seen any over 400/400 unless they were running race gas.
