MazdaSpeed3 dayum!
So this wasn't really a race more like a tease and it went something like this.
So I'm heading to the freeway down one of the main expressways over here with my friend riding bitch just minding my own business. I'm kind of switching lanes down the express way exercising the fastest lane, but by no means driving aggressive. During my manuevers through traffic i spot a car that i've passed in one of the slow lanes get in my lane and punch it until he's riding my ass. I'm like whatever, so we get to the stop light before the entrance to the the freeway and i notice it's one of the new mazda hatchbacks (wondering to myself if it was the fast one ).
Anyway the freeway entrance i'm about to take is a sweeping 3/4 circle turn which then merges on the freeway which is going uphill at about a 4% grade. The mazda and I are in the left of two lanes at the stoplight me being 1st at the light him 2nd and the freeway entrance is off the right lane. When the light turns green I punch it to 9k in first, switch lanes to take the on ramp and hold in second gear. i see the Mazda shadowing my moves and is still on my ass. We take the freeway entrance and i'm taking the turn at 90% thinking "that thing is fast but proly can't handle," He was right on me all though the whole turn! We straighten out and i mash it all the way to about 95 mph (to the top of the hill) and gained no distance on him. After that i slow back down to 70 and he passes giving the Holy shiet those things are fast and they can handle! has Anyone raced one heads up?

One of the magazines lapped Laguna a bit quicker than the s2k in a heads-up shoot-out. They are quick and handle. Time marches on...newer cars will be quicker still.

The S2000 will kill the 3 on most turns with it's great handling capabilities, especially on daily driving. The lateral G's on the S2000 is far more superior which will give the edge to the S2000 on most of the highly regarded tracks in the world.
You won't see too many 3's on the tracks that S2000's, Porches, M3's, Corvette's, etc can handle....
Make no mistake, the 3 is fast for it's price range. Plus you're comparing a N/A to a FI car. Still shows how far Honda has come with NA engines versus FI cars.

Note average lap speed slightly faster and lap time is razor thin quicker for the MS3.

I think the hill killed you. Your lightened flywheel, along with the larger rim have probably hurt your final ground torque numbers from stock (but increased HP/handling), and those MS3's are torque monsters!

Anyways, good encounter with the MS3. You have to remember, they're FWD, so they're much easier to control at the limit too...no shame in that.

The 3 is simply easier to drive, so on the street, and in the hands of non-professionals, expect the gap to be very slim with regards to handling, and straight-line performance.
Let's not talk about when the 3 is mildly modded.
