This is the most recent kill I've had, but also the only race I've been in for a good 2 months. I was on my way to school one morning in the M3. Its a stock 96 E36 by the way, and this guy in his Late 30s to mid 40s looks over at my car. He revs his S2K at me, which is somewhat surprising, and then i kinda realize that maybe he wants to race. The side light turns yellow, but hes not reving, so i know hes not going to launch, maybe he was just reving to say hi? The light turns green, and we both pull out, and pull out as fast as usual, faster than most, but far from all out. Then he floors it. Im still in first and assume he is too. Im at about 3K RPM, and floor it. The ACS light comes on, so i hit it before i shift to 2nd. Around 7K, yeah yeah, laugh it up, i shift to 2nd and squeel a little. Same in 3rd. After i get to third i look over for the S2k. Hes about even, just a little down. I pull on him in third, and wonder why hes not staying even. I hit 4th and hes obviously braked. VICTORY! After the fact, i assume he chickened out of 3rd, because he would have at least stayed even in 3rd with me. It had rained that morning, but was mainly dry, and the road was somewhat curvy. I wonder what would have happened if we both went all out.
The moral of the story is, when you get reved on at an intersection, launch just in case. Ya never know when they are gonna decide to go all out. The race would definintly have been more intereting if we both got to launch, and he was as comfortable with the road as I was. Hopefully we'll meet up again soon........

Yeah an E36 M3 will pulll a good amount when both cars do an off idle launch. I've noticed that the S2000 starts to pull on it in 4th gear though.

Isnt it a lot easier to launch the M3 too? Because I dont know, but ive heard things about having to launch S2Ks at like 6K RPM, and people who do that a lot saying they've broken axles and such.

Hey Zoran, you up for an S2000 vs. M3 rematch at TWS?

I'm going to try to head up first weekend in August. And, get this, I'll have *less* horsepower this time.

Naw, I'm just playing. Comraderie and friendly competition (well, maybe pressing flesh with the hottie waitresses at the Fox and the Hound after a tough day on the track ) is what it is all about.

Zoran and I had fun out there, it's really great to get cars such as the M3 and S2000 on a road course, where they were bred to run. Straight line street shit leaves a lot to be desired. (at least for me)

I'm actually in transition on my car, taking a different approach, and will be dumping a 12 rwhp mod in favor of a different, mutually exclusive approach. Maybe that 12 rwhp edge is just what Zoran needs!
