Default M3 vs. S2000

Just wanted to pass this along. Noteworthy, after the initial jump, it appears that the cars stayed even. It's all in the launch, as b/t these two cars.

Maybe it's the video but that didn't seem to close to me. It actually looks like the M3 let off at the end, also didn't look like they took it to far either, the S2k was only at 83-85mph.

Yeah, I watched it again. The M3 stomped him. (i need coffee)

I guess that's what happens to an s2k when you don't clutch drop.

I think the S2K would've stayed closer had he used a bit more agressive launch. I think he did fairly well, considering the extra 1.2l the M3 has, and the bunch of torque that comes with it.
Off course, no BMW can touch my 350hp Miata, not a stock BMW at least

Maaaaaaaaannnnn, I don't understand some people, he does a rolling idle launch and expects to beat an M3??????????

Why race if you are going to loose for sure? There is no way in hell that a stock s2k with an idle launch is going to equal the performance of an m3 doing the same!!!!!!!! :

I will say it again, either race from a rolling start at about 25 mph+ or DO NOT RACE OTHER PEOPLE UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO DUMP THE CLUTCH at 6-7k RPMs.

People who do these things give us all a bad name. What is the point of racing if you already know you stand no chance in hell. If the BMW owner has a big mouth, he will spread it all over the net.

I don't know...staying within a few car lengths of a BMW (with 100 more HP and 100 more ft/lbs of torque) seems like a pretty close race to me.

That was an E36 M3. Same hp rating (240).

BTW, for all those thinking Mustang GTs are slow, a 99+ mustang GT will do exactly the same thing to an S2k as the M3 did if launched from idle.

Remember:

I care for my clutch and Drivetrain:
Do a 25 mph + rolling start.

I want to win at any cost anywhere:
Do a 6-7k dump.

No ifs or buts in this case, just DO IT.

A few car lengths is a good showing on a car that's been shown to be VERY even with the S2000? How do you accept that (nothing big, but it's our car v. another)?

All of the two E36 M3s I've raced have been from a highway drop and it's been even Steven except on one of them I pulled slightly ahead by a car length going up to 130mph. Both were manuals and one of them had some aftermarket exhaust (Dinan?).

What Sev said... drop it, VTEC start it on a roll, or just go home.
