Default LS1 camaro

So I'm on my way home from class and I see this white conv. Camaro approaching. We're going down the same street and the light turns red. But there was traffic on the other lane, so he pulls up behind me. We roll off the light and I shift slowly up to 3rd gear where I open her up a bit and get ahead of the traffic to change lanes.

We're now approaching another small light which almost never turns red. LOL just my luck! The light turns red and we start to slow down. We're at about 2-3 mph when it turns green. He keeps pace up to 15 mph and I look, he's got a smirk on his face so I get on it and he follow suit. 1st gear runs out quick and I shift to second, the worn out falkens break loose for a split second, but the car keeps accelerating. I look to see where the camaro is and I've got about a car on him. 60 mph approaches and I shift to 3rd, look back and he's hanging on by about a car and a half I let off around 70 mph since we are approaching RR tracks quickly. He catches up and gives a thumbs up and I smile and do the same and turn onto my street as he keeps going straight on the same street All in all a good race and I was surprised by the result.

Cliff notes:

I get the jump from 15 mph and hold him back by about 1 1/2 car lengths + up to 70 ish mph.

Mods? Looks like the head start definitely helped your cause.

I have intake, 3in single, e manage tuned, etc and weigh 2840 with me in the car and a full tank. Also had a tool kit (40 lb) sitting in the trunk (probably why the bald azenis hooked). The car made 215 whp but it seems like there's an exhaust leak.

Nice to hear about nice GM owners. Not a common story, sadly.

Are you sure it was an LS1 Camaro?

Maybe an Lt1?

LS1 cars are solid mid 13 second cars and some have gotten them into the 12s stock-

My Mustang runs high 12s and I can barely put a car on 1 to 60-

Im thinking you might have raced an LT1 car which would be a low 14 second car making this about right

It was a z28 LS1 with flush headlights, not indented lights like the LT1s. I'm not stock btw and I did get the jump. Mid 13 seconds sound about right for me to pull like I did. Plus it was a convertible and again, I got the jump.

I've pulled on high 13 second car with 15 to about 90, 2ish car lengths going at it at the same time. The car feels like it loses breath in 3rd gear, but 1st, 2nd, and 4th are strong for some reason

it sounds totally reasonable to me. At 70, the LS1 was about to roar by, but it was just a quick few seconds blasting up to 70 and letting off. A very short race that ended before the other car's huge power advantage became obvious.
