Lancer Evolution, 1/4 mile 14.3 w/ temp.tags on !
I went to the Bradenton , Florida 1/4 mile racetrack last night and saw a new Lancer Evolution run last night! His best time that I saw was a 14.3. This guy had temporary tags on. My first thought was "why would you drag race a brand new $30,000 car and not break in the engine first? "

I know a lot of people that believe in driving the car like you plan to drive it, during break-in.
One of my truck drivers gets a brand new 350Z Convertible on Wednesday, and he's taking it to the track on Friday night to run it.

Alot of people don't believe in breakin in a car...I myself wont run it too hard but will still get on it...plus the best times i've seen from the cars I own were done with the temp. tag...go figure.
Lightning- a tuner bought it took it to the track same night and ran a 13.2@103/4
Cobra-Some guy on his 2nd attempt at the track with less than 1000 miles goes 12.3@115
Z06-Temp. tags on it goes 11.8@118 I believe.
Those times are some freaks.
Also in the last Motor Trend the Evo went 13.1@105 i think...couldnt have had that many miles.

I ran a 13.46 @ a measly 98mph with 500miles on my Evo.... the weather was perfect, but the car was hot....plus I was overreving it. i shifted all gears at 7700rpm... redline is 7000... i assumed (incorrectly) that it was making power all the way up there.... hence the low trap speed.
I ran 1 more time with a cool car and misshifted from 2-3 (i tried to power shift) but had 13.99X and a trap speed over 100mph....
so somehow combing the two would probably have been 13.3-13.40 @101mph....which is pretty decent.
I will go to Maple Grove one of these fridays to retest...car has 3600 miles now.
