I got beat by a Z28 that said he was "mostly stock" before the race. He beat my by half a car length, which is exactly the distance I lost on my launch - which is full of wheel spin (gotta do something about that - wider tires). After the race I talked to him, and he admitted that he had a software upgrade. I think he had more than that, people like to keep secrets out there.

that programmer makes a huge difference.. if they have a auto.. can make it shift right at redline or peak power rpm.. my bud w/ the trans am got it.. but stock those new ls1 z28's can run low 13/high 12.. bout even w/ the SC s2000.
darren the dude w/ the trans am said just slapping a stall converter on there can get it into the mid 12's. i'll let Quickag explain what that does if he's around.. cause i have no idea.

Yeah, those LS1 guys can be sneaky. They're so fast to begin with, not many people will even bother to try if they're modded on top of that.
I had an encounter with an LS1 Z28 this weekend. He started 2 lengths behind me at 20 mph and only pulled maybe a half length to 80 and I had 450 lbs of people in my car. Must have been the driver. I've seen enough stock LS1s run fast enough to leave me choking on exhaust fumes to realize that they're hard to beat when driven right. But apparently, there are plenty that aren't driven right :-)

When I was stock a modded LS1 smoked me. I asked him what he had. "The usual; headers, exhaust, throttle body." I was thinking, "That's it!?" I should thank that guy for making me want a SC.
