last night im driving along and a sebring silver S pulls up next to me...(11pm the road was empty just us..) I actually recognize the guy, about 4 or 5 months ago a bunch of us were on our way to my house for a bbq after a local autox, and he saw us and followed us to publix. We talked for a few minutes and left (seemed like a nice enough guy). So anyway I told him if he wants we can go from a 1st gear roll (20 mph) after the next light(I wasnt really all that excited about racing a stock S, ive beaten alot of stock S's before but i figured why not)(for an NA S i think my S is pretty fast...mods are listed below). the light turns green and we pull away slow, we were bullshiting and just crusing along..then we go...he takes off first and i punch it....(i have a bad habit of letting people get the jump on me, its like im waiting to see if theyre gonna go or not)...normally letting a stock S get the jump on me doesnt matter that much, with the 4.57's i catch right up...but not this time...he jumped ahead about 3 cars instantly...realizing im not gonna catch up with the amount of road we have before the next light, i let off the gas and pull up next to him at the light. I told him that was very impressive what have you done to it. He looks at me with a straight face and say "nothing its stock". I told him i usually beat stock S2000's by about 2 or 3 car lenghts. and he says its because hes been drag racing for years.....LOL

This is the first time I have got a response like this from another S2000 owner. Usually S2000 owners are very happy to discuss thier mods....If his car really was stock than i appologize, and i would like to buy it from him. It is deffinetely the only stock S ive ever seen take off like that......lol

I'd say bottle fed, but it would of been more than 3 cars.

2-3 car difference is believable with a really good driver; speed shifting makes a big difference

especially since he got the jump

remember it was from a roll (20mph), and he jumped ahead imediatly....not much driver skill involved in flooring the car..

what speed did u guys run to?

if there were 2-3 shifts involved, its believable

maybe he had gears also; you never know

u prolly didnt get going fast enough for shifting speed to matter

when i first started racing (i was a good driver), i had experienced friends beat me by 2-4 cars doing a 50-120 punch just because of shifting

Like what others have asked, what speed did you take it up to? If he was really stock, he was a much better driver than you. But then again, it's very hard for a stock to beat your S, since it has gears, CAI, Toda header, etc.
