Just to put my $.02 in, a stock LS/VTEC in any Civic is not likely to beat a S2000 in a drag race. A stock LS put out about 120whp. Adding the VTEC head gains you around maybe 30whp. Add them all together and you get at most 150whp. Anything more than that and you are getting close to B18C territory. 150whp in a 2100lb chassis is fast, but not S2000 fast.
I thought the LS/Vtec combo was closer to 200 hp and 150 ft/lbs? I may be wrong.

An LS-vtec swap is basically the same as running a b18c. And if done properly an ls-vtec swap will produce more hp and torque. Lots of variables though, like which gen b16 head he was using, and whether he used the b18a or b18b block, plus most of the time people with the frankenstein swaps usually have done more to it than just through on a vtec head, ie bolt on's, maybe cams, and we all know the b-series motors respond way better to mods than ours do.

My previous car was a 92 cx eg hatch, with a jdm b18c (sirII, basically a jdm gsr w 10 more hp) and all bolt on's with type r cams. And that car would run low 13's all day.

Basically i wouldn't race him again, at least not for money.

my .02

I agree with the additional mods being the reason for the power, not just the fact of it being an LS\VTEC. Based on compression ratios the lsvtec should be making less power than a GSR. When aftermarket rods\cams\pistons come in, that's a different story. But the b18a\b also has more displacement which will help a little on the low end.

b18a\b = 9.2:1
b18c1 = 10.0:1
b18c5 = 10.6:1

b18a\b = 1834cc
b18c1\c5 1797cc

Nope. A LS/VTEC makes less than a B18C1 and definitely less than a B18C5. The only reason to use one is cost. They are a lot cheaper to buy that a GSR or ITR motor.

judging by everything you have said, you should have just bought a rustang...
Better yet, a Camaro.

On another note, if I had a hatch and wanted to do a swap, I'd go straight to the H22A. I'm sure it fits because I've seen several, and they were FAST!

I hate most Domestic cars hehe or else I would have gotten a 2000 vette. I love my Honda's that's why i choosed a S2000 over a vette.
Anyways I Love my Honda and I'm tuning my car like crazy over the winter.

- its cool and all, but like I stated in that other thread.. I doubt I would do it again..
- the weight ratio wasn't great.... I remember racing a stang on the freeway and I had to slow down becuase a turn was coming up...
- BUT, it would be nice to have another one with 120 shot of nitrous this time instead of 100 shot.. that motor was asking me to raise the jets

Ok, I have to reply on this one. First off his LS/Vtec should haved beaten you soundly. I have a friend with a basically stock motor running 13.0s at the track with slicks. On the street he has Drag radials and beats Cobras with blowers! So, go ahead and think you're the shit, our cars are not that fast! I just got beat the other night bya civic coupe with a LS/Vtec with a turbo. I am nowhere near stock either. Sorry if I come like an ass, but you have to respect other cars otherwise they will think you are an arrogant ass.
i dont know if i read wrong or not but NO ING WAY ON EARTH will a LS-V in a hatch beat an 03 cobra with a blower. correct me if i read wrong. and OBVOUSLY you will lose to an LS-V turboed cmon now, look at the whp it'll put out prob. around 218 LETS SAY in a hatch with slicks thats ing 12.0-12.5 probably. 232whp in a hatch on slicks N/A runs 11.8 now you do the math. ls-v shouldn't beat a s2k if you ask me. b20-v ok maybe, ls-v? nope not if you ask me, my friends ls-v with i believe cai and headers/Exhaust ran 14.4 i believe and he is a good driver. ls-v beating corba's with a blower? lmao please. your looking at a 11-low 12 sec mustang which means your friends ls-v shoudl put out about 230 whp to have a chance.
