Are Ford F-250s reall this fast?
Ahhh crap.
I went home today for a dentist appointment, and felt like driving the van for shits and giggles. Anyway, I'm on HWY-249 cruising at a modest 80mph, when I come along a lifted F-250 with big tires in the fast lane. He wasn't going too slow - maybe 75mph or so, so I casually switch lanes to the right to pass.
The F-250 must've thought passing on the right was a challenge, or he was just trying to "show off," but he immediately got on the gas as I pulled alongside. I thought, "Hey, this'll be fun." I obliged him by giving it some gas as well. For a few seconds I floor it to pull on him a bit, but as soon as I let off the throttle, the F-250 starts creeping on me! And I'm already at 100mph!
So I'm like, "Oh shit!" And give it more gas, but not WOT. I switch to the right lane and wait for the F-250 to pull alongside. By now, we were already at 125mph. Again, I was like, "Oh shit this guy is serious." So I hammer it and just leave him behind. I think I killed it at around 140 or so (judging by rpms)... The F-250 hung back; didn't pass me until I made my exit...
So question is this: Are all 3/4-ton F-250 turbodiesels this fast?

I know a guy that ran a 14.3 in an F-250 with 35's. He had 4.44 gears and a little turbo upgrade as well as any bolt on you can think of. Something like 800 ft lbs. and 400 horses. Not all that out of the gate, but from 50 on its really nasty. put it this way he could take my S from 50-100. 10 out of 10 times

You guys can pick of ford all you want but they build good trucks. We uses my dad's Bronco since 1996 when he bought it new. That truck has been beaten llike a red headed step child and keeps comin back for more. ( knock on wood )

Funny you should mention about modifying Ford 250 Trucks. I was at Carlsbad a while back where this redneck brought his raised F250 and tried to drag it. The truck is no slouch, but on his 3 or 4th pass the driveshaft broke. When will people understand that trucks are not meant to be raced or to patcipate in speed exhibition. If you guys think kids driving riced out Civics are dangerous, just wait until you see a truck with his "governor removed" fly by you doing 130+ mph.

Yeah, down here in Texas, Ford owns the truck industry... from the 1/2-ton F150 to the massive F650... and everything in between. GM and Dodge combined can't touch Ford sales. They work, and they work well.
And they're also quite moddable.
