Encounter with an S4
Well ran into a (2nd time) s4 this past weekend. Ran from a stoplight to the top of 2nd gear (ran into another light). I'm still getting used to launching my car (7k rpm drop just frightens me) but the results were pretty good. He had a 1.5 car length from the launch but I did manage to gain on him on 2nd gear. Probably could have caught up to him if we ran it all the way up to 3rd or 4th gear.
The first encounter with an s4 was on a highway and I had a little under 1k mi on the ODO. I don't know if his car was modded or if my car was not fully broken in but I got spanked. Started in 3rd gear at 70mph and ran it up to 110 or so.
Also ran a friend of mine in an M roadster from the roll in 1st gear (25 mph) to the top of 3rd gear. We were exactly even.
I currently have a little over 2K miles on my car and am hoping that it will get a little faster when fully broken in.

I had an experience with a modded S4 Avant on the highway just the other day.. It was odd, I wasn't really paying attention and all of a sudden this guy is on my rear bumper like no tomorrow. I wasn't thinking of racing so I just rolled on it in 4th (should have been in 3rd), and he was gaining on me pretty good. After realizing we were actually racing I dumped to 3rd with about 200 rpms left till redline (bad move), he gained some more and pulled to the right to pass (at my bumper), but just then I shifted to 4th and just pulled away... It was weird because it seemed like he was going to take me, but when he got out from behind my draft and I hit 4th, it was all over... I wonder what kind of gearing they have... Maybe that might have played a roll...

I'm a big fan of the S4, was a (very) close second when planning on purchasing my car. I would have to say that our s2k is in the 'more fun to drive' category. But all wheel drive, turbo charged power was very tempting. I would love to see what Audi does with the new A4s.
