Default E36 M3 Vs. S2k

I was minding my own business driving home tonight in my M3 when all the sudden I saw a set of very highly aimed blue HID light comming really fast behind me at a good 20mph faster than my cruising speed. It tailgated me for about 5 sec and then it pulled next to my right side. It turned out to be a Spa Yellow S2k driven by a asian kid in his late teen or early 20. As we arrived to a red light we stopped next to each other. All the sudden he started to rev his engine and gave me this (lets get on it) look. I don't usually like to race in the street because of the risk involved. But theis guy's behaviour was really ticking me of and since there wasn't any traffic ahead of us, I decided to teach him a lesson. I hit my ASC switch to turn off the traction control and waited for the light to turn green. As soon as the green light came on I dropped the clutch at 3kRPM. My rear started tires to spin cause I was too eager on the gas pedal and I was behind him a half car lenght when my tires started to hook up and from that point I just started to walk away from him. After leaving him behind about 5 car lenght and hit 100MPH I started to slow down and was going to give him a thumbs up for a good race. But instead he didn't even slow down and just blew by at over 100MPH. I just shook my head and drove home. What is it with S2k and young driver? This is not the first time that they have tried to race my in my M3. Do they really have something to prove and really think that they have a chance to beat me? Just wanted to share this and see if this is something common among S2k drivers or just the few that I have encountered in the streets.

Is your M3 stock? There is no way that a stock E36M3 could gain 5 carlengths on an S2k @100mph, especially when you were half a carlength behind him at first. An E46M3 may be able to do that.

Good kill anyway.

i agree with the last post, you should go to your bmw site because there is a huge debate raging over your exact same post.
sorry but stock to stock, if he already jumped 1/2 car length you would be very hard pressed to overtake especially 5 car lengths.
if you are modded or he was a horrific driver(other than his launch) nice kill. M3's are nice cars.

That would be like me saying I started half a length behind an LS1 camaro, and by 100 I had him by 5 lengths.

not quite

E36 M3 and S2000 are very even if the S2000 is launched properly. The LS1 is faster even if the S2000 is launched properly.

But as far as the original post, the E36 should not be 5 car lenghts faster especially if the S2000 was ahead in the beginning. Maybe it was one of those S2000's that dynoed at 190 hp.

This is the kind of attitude that I was talking about, I guess all you S2k drivers are all the same. I bet the guy that I beat was also thinking the same thing or why else would he challenge me. My car is pretty much stock except for a CAI and exhaust. But did you guys ever think that it could have been my better driving skill plus the 223 lb torque at the rear wheels that my 3.2l I6 puts down? Never mind...

I would race (friendly race) you if you want. Pick a backroad or something. Same situation, let my car be a half carlength in front of you, both of us in 1st gear. I can guarantee you that by the time you hit 100mph, you wouldn't be 5 carlengths in front of me.
