Does a second passenger on a bike make that big of a difference????

I think it makes a huge difference. I know when me and my wife would ride our bikes they felt pretty quick, then once she would get on mine it would make a big difference and I had a modded 600 CBR. Its the same way when riding against the wind. Just feels like its being held back.
I actually messed with a bike on the freeway in the EVO. I thought if I have any chance of staying close its now. It was a windy day and we were going up against the wind. I took off from 3rd gear and byt the top of 4th and early 5th about 120-130 I was pulling on him. After slowing down he pulled up next to me and gave me a thumbs up and we went on our ways. If we were going the other way im sure he would have killed me. It was a newer bike too.

I played around with an Evo on the highway once on my bike, and I put buslengths on him from 60 to like 120.

I know on my bike I used to love pulling away from cars, it was amazing to see how easily you could pull on them. But I do know that riding in the wind sux, or at least it did for me. I hate the feeling of being pulled to one side or another by the wind, that and it always felt like the bike was slower. We do want to get new bikes...maybe next summer

I thought so. He did wind it up when we ran. You when a bike goes up in the revs. I just knew the outcome was the passenger. Lucky me I guess. It was fun and that was all that counts. The enjoyment and the look on his face when I decided to downshift. Even if I lost it didn't matter.

well I think you have your question answered several times...
A pass. will make
huge difference in performance of a bike...add 1/3 of the weight to it and a 50% of that right above the rear tire...not good for acceleration purposes.
