Daily beater: IS300 versus a Mazda MS3
I was doing 85 as usual going home yesterday and passed a black Mazda 3 hatch and cut back in front of him as he was cruising at only 75mph in the fast lane. 
Anyway, a minute later I see him creeping up back behind me and at this point I'm doing 90ish. Well, traffic gets in front of me, so I cut over two lanes, pass, and get back in the left lane with nearly a mile of open road in front of me, perfect visibility, and new Bridgestone RE050 tires rated to 190mph. So, since my IS300 will only do 140mph flat out, I go moderate throttle up to 105-110mph.
Well, lo and behold, that black Mazda is about a half mile back and coming up fast. And faster, and faster, and faster, he is coming up behind me and I'm at 110mph at this point, just "cruising" very quickly. He has to be doing 130+mph and I'm like, WTF?
He comes up on my ass, hits his lights, and slows down. I move over to the right lane and wait for him to pass. He doesn't and backs off. We get into traffic a few miles later and he rolls up beside me. It's a black, preppy dude in a black Mazdaspeed 3. Ahhh, that makes much more sense. I roll down my window and tell him his car is too fast for mine and give him a thumbs up. He returns the thumbs up and takes the next exit.
I was wondering how the hell a Mazda 3 hatchback could be that fast, but as soon as I realized it was an MS3, it made much more sense.
