Well I am aware that s2000 are capable of beating stangs and older camaros, but one thing they CAN NOT beat at all is the LS1, I don't care what gears it has, what tranny it has, from a roll it will pull pretty hard, and thats not even the lightweight Vette model!! I mean the simple fact is 2.0L 200RWHP 140RWTQ is not going to beat a 5.7L 320RWHP 350RWTQ in any battle.

Well that's just stupid. The moniker "Five-O" means a 5.0-liter Mustang. To call the 4.6 GT's a "Five-O" is almost blasphemuos.

How does this sound:

Cobra R: Is that a Five-O or a Four-Point-Six?

Your friend: Both. It's really a Four-Point-Six but I like to round it up so it's also a Five-O.

What about the battle of gas mileage? I can't stand broad generalizations like that... you'll lose validity every time. The LS-1's are great cars and in general you won't find many that think the S2000 is going to beat them consistently in a drag race. I would certainly question wheter or not a manual C5.. even if driven poorly, is capable of loosing to an S2000 in any sort of drag race. The C5 has more than adequate power anywhere... just about anywhere in the rev range. If the S2000 messes up at all it doesn't have the ability to make it up... that's not the case for the C5.

Ohhhh that's what he was trying to say. It's a 4.6 but his super cool friend calls it a five oh. I wasn't sure because half way through his post my eyeballs busted and my brain began to melt.

And manual vettes are known to get 30-33 mpg on the highway. If you drive them as directed. "Skip-Shift" isn't just a made up term.

Does anybody really 'skip-shift'? I have spent fair amount of time in two different C5's both of which were manual and neither of which ever saw 30-33 mpg. They did get in the upper 20's which I thought was impressive but on the trip home from N. Carolina my S2000 got better than 30 mpg and it wasn't even broken in yet.

Um, Chevrolet installed CAGS (computer aided gear selection) to force manual tranmissioned cars to go from 1st gear to 4th gear by blocking out 2nd gear under certain light throttle/light load conditions. There is a 10 cent to $20 fix by installing a little plug in the transmission housing, so you're not blocked from 2nd gear. It's all part of the CAFE crap and I disabled it on my C5 the second day I had it.

About mileage, I'd be careful comparing S2000 mileage to six-speed C5 mileage. I don't know many S2000's that can get upper 20's mileage cruising at 100mph. The six-speed C5 is barely turning 2000rpm at 100mph in 6th gear.
