Cop stopped me on test drive!
Im not an s2k owner yet, hopefully by the end of the year though. Anyway, thought you guys would like this. I was at my local dealer in Lake Worth FL (BRAMAN) and went for a test drive of a used 2001 s2k. Absolutly an amazing ride and I cant wait to own one. The salesperson and I were cruising some of the side streets around the dealership when the "BLUELIGHTS" go off! Im thinking what the -----??, Turns out, I was being a good boy when he observed me......he just wanted to stop us to find out what kind of car it was! After the three of us chatted for a few minutes it was time to go back to the dealership. At this point I asked him if it was OK to "get on it". He looked around and said "just dont hit any kids"!! So as I took off I got on it just a little, barely hit VTEC. I guess I was just not that comfortable with the whole situation new car, cop and all. Maybe next time. Thought you all would want to hear about it.

Your post illustrates one of the pleasures derived from driving this car. It is somewhat rare and when people see it they are fascinated not only by the way it looks but by the fact that they have never seen one before. I get this kind of reaction alot. My dealer told me that Honda only manufactures 5k a year. I don't know if this is true or not but I have seen tons more Boxsters, z3's and vettes than I have s2k's. It is kind of like having a Ferrari without the guilt associated with it's price or in other words a "Poor mans Ferrari".

I have yet to be pulled over and asked what kind of car I have by a cop. I have been pulled over for my headlights though. They try to tell me that Hondas dont come with "blue" lights. And I explain to them what they are. I have yet to be ticketed for it, but I still get hassled. But I love the attention I get. I mean, with my pimped out civic I'd get a few kids here or there asking me about it. But the S2000 gets attention from kids, adults, etc. I mean everywhere I go people come look at this car and say how awesome it is.

Ive had a couple of cops stop me for the lights saying that i was flashing the lights at them...and another argued with my friend saying that no honda has factory HID's and that he had the high beams on etc. but they did give him a summons but my friend did have jdm headlights (you know the whole right side drivers side thing) but its all woth it when i hit VTEC

That's great that there are cop's out there who are interested in cars and can be reasonable about things.
I had something like that happen to me, after I had restored a 1973 TR6.
I had a cop stop me for no front lic plate and then after giving me a warning,
he said "by the way, it sound great going by"

Here's a pointer, go to Honda's website print out the specs on the car. Have it stashed somewhere in the car, if you get pulled over for your lights, wam bust it out and prove to the cop that it's perfectly legit. That way you save yourself hassle of getting a ticket and you inform the cop that he can't judge people's car without knowing proper facts.
Or just get the literature from the dealership and have it in your car.
