My sti is far from slow from a roll! my friends stock turbo evo with, intake, exhaust, downpipe, ecutek reflash, 272 intake and exhaust cams, and fuel pump, well tuned, beat a 6.0 GTO from a roll. And his evo has some heavy 18 inch wheels, 2 10' subwoofers in the back, and his driving skills are not the best, just good enough. and despite all of the restraints he still took the GTO from a roll. So I disagree that awd cars are slow. I have beaten an 01' porsche carrera with i/h/e, from a 50mph roll up to 130. beat him by 2 cars in my STi.

I'm not really biased, at least not the way I see it .

Blanket statements such as this are usually way off base, but on paper I agree with this one. Compared to a RWD or FWD platform, the drivetrain loss is excessive, the car's are usually heavier, and in the case of the STi and EVO, the aerodynamics are anything but spectacular.

Having said that, the reality is that the STi/EVO/S4 can usually hold their own from a roll because of how easily they make big power, I mean it's nothing to see these cars putting down 400+ WHP. Even without big power they do fairly well, my Stage 2 STi doesn't put down crazy numbers, but I've only been beaten a few times from a roll (both 500+ whp cars).

Anyway, strictly roll-racing is for chumps with no skill 'cause it's all about money; whomever has the most money buys the most hp and wins the race. Next time you get a minute, check out exactly how many forms of motorsport racing start their races from a roll.

Funny you should say something like that. I guess everyone is a chump then, because I havent found anyone in 6 years who wont race from a roll. Everyone I know do both, except for the SRT4 guys

Last time I checked, it costs a tad more to for a GT35R with supporting mods on an STi than it does for bolt-ons and cams on an EVO. This race showed a couple things. The shortcomings of the STi obviously, but most importantly, that the powerband and torque is more important than most think. Not all about HP.

In case anyone missed the intro to the video, I am the EVO owner.

an evo with those mods is in the 12.5ish area or better. a stock GTO wouldnt be much of a race.

its not everyday you come across a porsche carrera with aftermarket headers

also it said in the comments section of the video page that the STi might have been in limp mode? is that possible?
