Default blue2k2s2k vs. a Z8.....not a street race......

So I pull up next to a black Z8 at a stop light. Him: Older doode, no passenger. Me: myself and the girlfriend. I am in the left lane, he's in the right. I turn to him, thumbs up. He gives me a thumbs up in return. Both our tops are down, so we have a lil' conversation. Light turns green, this guy guns it and i'm whiffing tire smoke. I am not a street racer, I just watched him gun it.

He catches a yellow light and I pull up next to him again. Light turns red. (at this particular intersection, if you are a local, you know that this light stays red for a while) So I tell him, I'll race him if he's up for it, but it's a contest that is not among the street racing variety.

The race was who can get their top up the fastest. My g/f couldn't help me in any way. We both start with both hands on the wheel. He counts to three, on three, bam! Parking brakes go up for both of us, the distinct series of clicks. I flip the switch and I'm watching his and he's watching mine. I notice that his motor doesn't pull the top all the way to the windshield frame as mine did. Haha! I have him by a few inches. Two clicks, both latches are down. Hands in the air, I won.

Light turns green and....well.......I got my top up before him.

...and did you notice that his rear window was plastic?! It's true.
But I love that Z8 anyway. Nice story!

LoL

I'm impressed, that might be the new trend around my town now. Theres a new mustang that daddy bought for his son who is a year younger than me. I might have to play a joke on the entire school that is anxiously awaiting our race. I might pull the same stunt you did. Where did you get such an idea. Legal street racing, who would have guessed. My inspiration

Hehe, so atleast you didn't think I was an idiot. I figured the convertible top was the best chance I had against a Z8. My g/f thought I was a complete fool, laughing so hard during the whole encounter.

The doode in the Z8 got a good kick out of it!

That was very clever...I would have never thought of it! I'm gonna try that....just not against a Benz, I still hafta hook latches, they don't.

Ill take on a Benz anytime, especially the SLK..My SLK takes the longest time to open the trunk and get the roof out and then latch, then close the trunk again. I would have put my top up and down at least twice before the Benz is done haha..I love that whole idea though, might have to try it once.
