The Blender vs the 350Z. Multiple Runs
My friend recently purchased a 350Z performance model, and naturally, Ive been waiting for him to finish the running in. Well, he got her up past 1200 miles this weekend, while I was down in LA. A bunch of us met up for dinner, and it turned out that both the blender and the Z graced the parking lot. Naturally, it was on.
Round 1: Damnit, this car has a major hole in the powerband right before the Vtec crossover. Starting at about 50 in third, I watched him sail away from me..........not so fast, sucker. Boost hits, and the blender surges forward, but we run out of room.
Round 2: Only a fool makes the same mistake twice. Im in second at 50 this time (ouch, I know), and he honks three times. WHAM! WOT in second gear hits like a linebacker, and Im pulling past him. Hit third, still pulling, wind out third, and on the brakes.
We did this a few more times. Each time, if we hit it while I was in vtec, I pulled decisively. If I was out of Vtec, I had to wait for the blower to start doing its job, and then play catchup.
Round 3: We went from a 20 punch in first. He slipped the clutch, and I just stood on it. THis was the first time Ive ever really shifted into second quick enough to keep the car on the boil. WOW. 9k in first, and Im ahead by a nose, nail second perfectly, its an instant carlength, and pulling in each gear till 100. Id say on average, I was leaving him by 2-3 cars.
Round 4: Really killing me now, from a 10-roll. Nowhere near the powerband, I watch him pull one car quickly, and then reel him back and start pulling away.
Cliffs notes: Off boost, the Z is faster, on boost, the Z has no chance.

Well, Im bone stock except for the blower. Dyno'd 268rwhp in 90 degree weather. I need to get to a dyno again and see if that number is still true. If it is, then I think Im kinda on the low side.
