Stop the chase? No f'in way. If that was the policy they'd never arrest any dirtbags. How about "don't run from the cops?" Works for me, speaking as a motorcyclist also.

You'd be surprised how often cops call off a pursuit. Of course you never see this on the TV show "Cops" because cops want you to think they'll catch you regardless and you can never get away so you don't flee in the first place . It's in their protocals that they should not keep chasing if it endangers the public unless of course they know for sure the driver has just robbed a bank or killed someone, etc. (then you see choppers coming out and whatnot). Most of the time they can run your plate anyway and just wait for you at your home. Other times it's probably just car theives or drunks or drug dealers and cops know they'll catch them sooner or later and it's not worth getting innocent people seriously injured and/or killed during the pursuit.

And for the record I've never run from cops. Just have a cop friend that's all.
