Audi A4 Station Wagon
Came accross an A4 station wagon(new model) in traffic yesterday evening. He pulled out of a Barnes & Noble parking lot right behind me and immediately tried to pass from the right side...what!?! I decided not today buddy and he got stuck behind the next car in the slow lane ...and yes, as was hoped for, he is aggravated and pulls left 2 cars behind me...I think: fish on
He follows and makes same lane changes until finally we are lined behind each other at a light. I had already let him pass before the light so this time I'm behind him.(finally got to see the rear and side of the car. It was shaved/no badges and had somekind of aftermarket exhaust sitting at stock awd height &manual) Somewhat of a tactical move to make sure I'm not getting into something I would not ask for; like an RS4/6. Anyhow, Green! and he stomps on it, I launch softly from 1st at 3k and proceed to do the same.........he's got 2 car lenghts in front of me at first, then I catch up as the S spins brilliantly up-ward to 8k's between shifting. I'm right on his bumper(half car lenght-for "safety") and he brakes to avoid hitting a car ahead making a u-turn! I make it into the center lane on-time and let go with the gas. That was close, actually closer for him(Audi) and the u-turn maker
Also a brief reminder that certain acts remain better exercised on a closed track.
Couple of lights later on same street and "reminder" conveniently forgotten
Find out that the A4 wagon is jockeying to position itself again close to the S2K
Ok. He's finally behind me and I'm first at red light. Again. This time I launch it hard as to say get lost! To my surprise he closes in on the gap between us but never manages to "catch" me. It remains 4 lenghts behind before we had to slow down for the next intersection.
That being said, in a nut shell, that wagon was keeping pace at a respectable rate I'm sure there's plenty modded VW/Audi turbos out there... it was entertaining nevertheless and no one got hurt

99% chance that it was chipped... meaning that it was putting down close to 300hp. the rule of Audi is that you're first mod is ALWAYS a ECU!!!
those are classically the most undertuned cars since the supra... $500 will typically add another 100hp... so if he had exhaust and everything else... he had a chip if he was a 1.8t... and you shouldn't have been closer then you were...

A chip alone (and possible new injectors) in the 1.8T can yeild around 80hp and 100 lb-ft.. not bad for $5-700
I heard that reliability and cost wise those cars could be expensive longer term un-like our Honda's?
