AP1 S2000 vs 2008 TL Type S
Heading home on the freeway around 1am. No traffic whatsoever. Going 65-70 mph, I notice two cars moving pretty quick up an on-ramp ahead of me. I step on it a little to see what they were. One was a 1960's something Camaro RS with a very loud exhaust. The other is a brand new Acura TL-S.
They lined up ahead of me and took off. I decide to play along, so I floored it to catch up.
I did race the Camaro, but that thing didn't impress at all. I lost one and won one. Pretty much within a half car every time. Maybe a shifting issue on his part? IDK...
I lined up with the TL-S. There were no honks, but I downshifted and "tried" to listen to him/her step on it. We both take off somewhat even. We are side by side, when he/she slowly starts to creep ahead of me when I'm towards the top of 4th. 5th gear and my car is screaming. But the TL-S still pulls. By the time I let off, the TL-S is about 2 cars ahead.
I couldn't believe how quick that car was. It looked like a stock exhaust, but it sound much louder. Definitely a manual. Car was as black as night. Limo tint windows, black wheels, and of course black paint. I would drive it. LOL
Cliffs notes: 2001 S2k loses to "Murdered Out" 2008 Acura TL-S, the end.
WTF are those packing under the hood? V6 with VTEC and major balls? haha

It's hard to say I was outdriven, because I was shifting pretty damn good/quick. And the top was up on my S2k. It might have been a little different if there were actually 3 honks, etc. But I can say, I was waiting for the TL-S to go.
I don't know if it was stock, but I would have to say there was at least some kind of intake or exhaust modification, because I have never heard a TL-S like that before.
Either way, after checking older posts on Acurazine, it sounds like the '08 TL-S owners are giving stock/near stock S2k's a run for their money. Sounds like most are pulling a car length or two on S2k's (roll race) once the MANUAL trans 2008 TL-S' hit 4th gear.
Oh well. A loss is a loss.
