Anybody Race the M3 Convertible
We all know that the E46 M3 is faster than our S2000 unless we go FI. However, I was wondering has anybody raced the E46 M3 Convertible. The M3 convertible has more weight and drag. I think it would be a close race with a very slight edge to the M3. However, I feel that a good S2000 driver can make it a very close race. Anybody encounter this car???

Yes, while going to Las Vegas las year.
I was in a gas station, and I spotted a BMW with a lot of mods beside mine.
I filled my tank and I took off.
After 10 minutes I've seen these headlamps in my mirror, (obviously it was night).
We were alone, it was around midnight, I was about 80mph. I thought it was the bimmer I spotted in the gas station, so I floored to see what he had.
90...dead even.
100... dead even.
110... dead even.
120... see above.
130... I thought the lamps were printed in the mirror.
At 140 I moved to the right.
He flew away, waving, passing as if I was stopped. It wasn't the BMW seen before.
It was a wonderful M3 cabrio, top down...
We played for a while at 110-120, then I left the game because the girl I was with was sterting to complain for the wind...
Ciao

Contrary to popular belief, the Convertible M3 is A LOT slower than the Coupe M3. We are not talking about .2 - .3 tenths, on some cases I have seen the Vert run a whole SECOND slower than the Coupe.
Basically, they are in par with a well driven S2000 in both highway and drag.

I have driven an E46 Convertible M3, my older sister used to have one. On the freeway, 80mph above, that thing will walk a well driven STOCK S2K, no problem. I dont know about drag races though, maybe they (Conv M3 owners) just have difficulties launching them

M3 verts are still pretty quick. I put many cars on a stock (i think) S2K on the freeway, but pulled away more slowly on an M3 vert on the freeway. Hard to compare though because these were on different days.
