thats what im thinking as well..
Considering going trolling a few civic forums, see if he made a post about it, just to see what he said "happened" and then I can ask him to race for real, see what he says

It doesn't take much for a civic EG(92-95) to be quick. A simple B18C5 swap in a EG will probably take us easily. I don't understand how so many S owners don't know that. I guess most never owned EG's and EK's with swaps. I got couple of guys with swaps in EG's and Ek's ranging from your average b16-b18 all the way to your k20 swap. My guy with a Eg hatch stock weight with a B18C5 hatch runs 13.4's all day. That is completely stock so he will pull on s2ks except for F/I ones. Curb weight for a 1992 CX hatchback is 2,094 LBS. Drop a B18C5(type r) motor (200HP) and you will be hitting high 12's low 13's all day. Power to weight ratio is key.

I'm sure there are many of us who understand that a heavily modded civic can be quite fast. There are just as many of us who realize that a vast majority of the civics that rev at S2000's and other faster cars are kids with a fart can and an intake who think they can now magically run with evos.
For every well modded civic that I run into there are a hundred sloppily done ricewagons. It's simple really, give respect where respect is due...but there is no harm in calling a horse a horse.

Both cars can be quick, depends on how much $$$$ you have to throw away. In this case whoever has more invested will win this ridiculous HP race. Both are hondas, we're bashing the wrong cars.

Personally, I don't even bother. Why race against a civic? If you beat a civic, people will say 'big deal'. If you get beat by a civic, you are now being laughed at in some way or another. You lose either way.
Then again, I'm not really a racer so take this perspective for whatever it's worth. In the end, I'm a whole lot happier driving my car than the little civic revving next to me (no offense to any of the hobbyists).
Just my .02

Civics have been out about 10+ years longer than the s2k
anyway i take no offense to what DWF wrote but i just want you guys to see where civic guys stand, well at least where i stand
for me it's all about giant killers, think about it. my civic looks like it's been through the ringer (a rat rod if you will) and when i'm just driving around looking for trouble i'll admit i do get laughed at, until they want to run and they get their doors blown off, then i get my respect, or at least the finger, or the look of WTF???

This.
After I ran him, I was thinking this exact same thing, not only did i get "beat" by a civic, I was now pissed off that I felt cheated.. in a way lol
But either way, stock s2k vs. a 600hp civic. Ill take the s2k, theres more to driving than just speed. I enjoy the attention / looks / compliments the s2k brings. I doubt hardly anyone comes out and asks questions about their civic.
But then again different strokes for different folks, I know quite a few people that have the mindset of speed > everything.
As for me, I got my car looking / sounding / feeling just to my liking. Even if it isnt the fastest thing on the road, to me its still the coolest thing on the road
