It doesn't take much for a civic EG(92-95) to be quick. A simple B18C5 swap in a EG will probably take us easily. I don't understand how so many S owners don't know that. I guess most never owned EG's and EK's with swaps. I got couple of guys with swaps in EG's and Ek's ranging from your average b16-b18 all the way to your k20 swap. My guy with a Eg hatch stock weight with a B18C5 hatch runs 13.4's all day. That is completely stock so he will pull on s2ks except for F/I ones. Curb weight for a 1992 CX hatchback is 2,094 LBS. Drop a B18C5(type r) motor (200HP) and you will be hitting high 12's low 13's all day. Power to weight ratio is key.
For every well modded civic that I run into there are a hundred sloppily done ricewagons. It's simple really, give respect where respect is due...but there is no harm in calling a horse a horse.

I'm sure there are many of us who understand that a heavily modded civic can be quite fast. There are just as many of us who realize that a vast majority of the civics that rev at S2000's and other faster cars are kids with a fart can and an intake who think they can now magically run with evos.

I love little civics!!
I have a JDM ITR swapped EG hatch and it ran 13.6s at the track. I want a k20 swap though.
But I also own an Comptech S2k with 300whp.....never ran this at a drag track before, but should run low 13's.

I had a b16 in my EF and it ran 14.1 with just I/H/E. It ran soo smooth but I enjoy my S so much more. But it always felt good to give the big v8 boys a run for their money in a 'lil hatch.
This thread makes me miss it even more.

I agree 100%/. I don't know where you're from but ricers are basically extinct here. It's all swapped out civics prowling the streets. Where I'm from most JDM(clean)civics have swaps in them. I'll constantly run in many of them and won't even pull. Over the summer I ran a friend who had a EG hatch with a K20 in it. From 60MPH-100mph or so he pulled 3 car lengths+. But we stopped before we even hit like 110mph. Would that be considered heavilly modded? A simple motor, no cams, no internal work, not even an intake lol. He just has an exhaust. O yeah not even tunes too.
Are you Forced induced? Because B18C1(180Hp)(GSR) if it really was a GSR in a CRX(less than 2000lbs) would be pretty quick. I would say running low 13's. And you blew the doors off of him? Please say your supercharger or turboed. Or his swap isn't working correctly. I ran GSR hatches all the time and I don't pull much. IT also depends on if it's EG or Ek since Eg's are lighter.

And yes, I would consider an engine swap a "heavily modded" car. Even with some of the swap kits out there, an engine swap is a major undertaking and is not for the faint of heart or the light of wallet. While the engine itself is unmolested, it's not like he simply dropped in a lower mileage example of his stock motor either.
I'm turbo, so it takes a truly special Civic to get my attention.
