6.2L V8 vs 2.0L I4
I'm coming home from the beach today and I notice a 335i. I decide to follow him to see if I can get him to play, even though I have to take the long way home. I get on it a little and the bimmer doesn't budge. I guess sometimes, when you're fishing for little fish, you catch a big one b/c I looked in my mirror to see a E63 AMG coming after me.
We come to a light and I'm in front. I roll it off, and go to grab 2nd and it just grinds. I finally get it in gear but by that time he's already jumped over a lane and has pulled alongside me. We both shut down and cruise up to the next light.
This time we're, sitting beside each other. I said, "Couldn't catch 2nd." And he says, "I heard you having some problems, this should be a good light for us." At this point he does a burnout and then sits on gas and break so the car is under load, waiting for the light. I hate launching my car, but shit, I can walk him from here if I have to and the opportunity to run a 507hp Mercedes doesn't just present itself everyday. I rev to about 5000 and dump it as the light goes green. We run dead even through first and GRRRRIND! again as I go to 2nd, motha****a! God hates me. I swear, this only happens unless I have a girl in the car or I'm racing a damn nice car.
Anyway we cruise up the road a little ways and manage to line up about 50mph. We get a perfect punch, dead even and it stays that way... through 2nd, 3rd, 4th... speedometer is climbing... 5th... Still absolutely, completely even. As if it was meant to be, we both hit the brakes at the exact same moment, as I glance down after hitting the brakes and see 128mph on the speedo.
It was absolutely the best race I've ever had, I really wish I hadn't missed 2nd the first to runs, but oh well. I'm really glad to get in a nice roll race. I'm amazed the S hung with him at high speeds, I would expect him to start walking away, especially being that my top was down (massive drag). Obviously those things are boats, but 507hp ain't exactly playing around. Great run, I'm so happy, that totally made my weekend.
Just looked up the specs and they're supposed to run 12.6 @ 115 through the 1/4. He did have a girl in the car with him, but I doubt that car would notice an extra 100lbs. No idea how I managed to hang with that sucker, maybe I need to go back to the track again. WOO HOO!
