Raced a few friends (TBSS and M3) and some random encounters (GTO and 350z) with surprising results. First, I ran my buddy's stock E46 M3 SMG, at night, from 40 mph to about 80 mph twice with the same results, neck and neck until 80 and him inching ahead as I go into fourth. We're going to run again soon hopefully. But I was surprised as much as he was, he's still in denial

Raced a GTO 6 liter 6 speed going home from a meet. Raced him from 40 to 80 as well and the first time, he left it in third and I held him back until 80 mph and we shut down as we approached a light. I give him a thumbs up and we roll off, but he stalled so I held back until he started rolling. We are steady at 40 mph and I jump and he hits it right after. I hear him chirp twice as he's right next to me and we get to about 80 mph, I throw it into fourth and he pulls away so I shut off. We stop and he thinks I'm boosted and is very happy that he beat a FI S2k, but then I told him that I was basically stock. His smile fades to just a grin, as we talked, I found out that he does road racing cool guy, not big headed at all

A few nights ago, I was rolling up to a meet with my buddy and he was in his TBSS. We rolled off the light and punched it around 20 mph and I start pulling on him. I was so surprised since he usually pulls on me, but it was completely opposite. So we fill up and line up and he honks (lol he's sneaky but I was ready for him ) He honks and we both go, I pull on him about a car length and he starts to catch up, I put my windows up and hold him back until 110 mph and shut off w me ahead about a car length. Both of us are surprised I was on ap1 wheels for this run.

Today' I raced a non HR 350z. We roll off the light and we both punch it around 20 mph and I pull on him instantaneously. I hit the top of second and shut off since I was already more than a car lenth ahead. We gave each other a thumbs up and went on our way.

All races but the Z were at night and the weather was cooler. I had 255 rears for the m3 and gto, ap1 rears for the tbss and 245s for the z. Mods are all the same in each race and the car makes 215 whp.

My car seems a tad quicker with ap1's on.

I know it's not much of a difference, but still =)

It seems to make a bit of a difference in acceleration. Mathematically, it will accelerate quicker with a shorter tire, but will not reach as high of a top speed as a taller tire. I don't know how much difference there is though, it could be negligible, but then again...

What sort of mods do you have to be able to beat a 6.0 GTO? Those things are real fast and slaughter a stock S usually!!

I never beat him, just hung with him up until 80 mph and then we shut off. I've got AEM intake, custom exhaust, test pipe, header (doesn't do crap) and a tune. And no Brock, the window was down on this one.

using the weight advantage and what i'd guess to be superior driver skills probably landed u the m3 and gto result...good runs!

in my experience the e46 m3 won't really pull on a stock-ish s2000 until around 100mph anyways, from a low speed roll that is (mine was 40-85ish)

Also raced a M3 conv. With led lights. From 60 to 120 mph and he started a car length ahead of me, we finished with him next to my window. He was a really cool guy, yelled out that he loved my exhaust so let let him hear it once more and we didn'tg run after that. This was a long time ago, like in March and I had a passenger with me.
