Maint Req'd may mean that you needed to change oil a few (thousand) miles ago.
Check Engine may mean you didn't.

Check engine is related to the TSB54 fix -- it came on the minute I drove it away from the dealer, probably one of the common mistakes they make with the service, a wiring harness was plugged in backwards.

This thread keeps on getting funnier.
Good job Steve C. That should put an end to some of non sense here.
On a side note, after test driving it and being in it a few times, I always thought that S2000 has much firmer suspension than M cars. But then, I get tired of people who has not even come close to smelling the leather inside of an M making comments on how it compares to other cars. So, I should note that my impression on S2000 has been good one so far but it is mostly from initial impression.

Passes on race tracks take a long time usually. I was on the track yesterday and a C5 running much more tire then me (with engine mods) would pass me everytime he was behind me coming onto a straight. The straight was about .7 miles and it would take him over half to do it. Does that mean my car was even close to as fast as his?? hell no. That car was probably a low 12 sec 1/4 car, but it takes a while to overcome a car that is traveling over 100 mph.

Hmm, another BMW v. S2000 thread. I'll gladly go head to head with any S2k on the racetrack in my Rebadged Nissan Sentra. Bring it.
I've been on the track with many S2000's and NSX's, and used to own an S2k. In fact, Zoran and I had fun on the track a couple months ago in the same run groups.
The NSX guys were pretty funny actually. I had never heard so many excuses come out of one guy's mouth, addressing the inexplicable: how my lowly Rebadged Nissan Sentra walked his exotic on the road course.

It's funny how some people got their S2000 and think it's the only car out there.
What is lacking from them is respect for other performance cars, IMO.
What I like to see is "S4_Dukar" with his S54 M Coupe street race against JohnnyCat's S2000.
I want to see if his "balls" can overcome 70+ hp and 100 tq difference (look at S54 motor's dyno sheet before jumping to other subjects that you don't know much about such as usuable torque band).
Have some respect. I show my respect to other great cars including S2000.

I'll accept the fact that you are one of the few (unlucky) people who owns an S2000 that's almost as slow as an ITR, has more body roll than a stock M coupe, and has more problems than a Ford Cobra.
I'm just happy that I don't share the same luck.
