190 mph race!
Recently I found myself sitting at a red light, just minding my own business, when a guy pulls up beside me and challenges me to a race. Well, I'm checking him out, he's checking me out... He's definately got the weight advantage on me but I've got the SKILLZ! I think I can take him. I accept and we both tense up, staring intently at the red light.
Suddenly the light turns green and we're off! He gets the jump at the start and pulls ahead. I'm not loosing any more distance to him, but I'm not gaining on him either. We quickly get up to 120 mph and now I'm starting to slowly gain on him. An evil little smile spreads across my face... I know something he doesn't know -- I've been holding back! Now I go flat out and quickly pass him like he's standing still. Before long, I've hit 190 mph and the other guy is just a dot in the distance.
It's very unstable at 190 mph. I'm barely in control and swerving all around. I could loose it at any moment. It's scary and exhilarating at the same time. I'm scanning ahead, making sure I don't run into someone at this speed.
Now I see the "end of the road" approaching up ahead. There's a huge obstacle ahead and it's coming up FAST! Time to slow down. I coast down to 125 mph and then "hit the brakes" when I'm about 2500 feet from sudden death. Damn!! This thing stops hard! I go from 125 mph to practically zero in about 300 feet. It's somewhat painful. I've got a full harness and the straps feel like they're cutting into me from the massive force of the deceleration.
I take it easy the rest of the way, putting around at 10 - 20 mph and then come to a stop. After a while, my opponent comes up beside me. We give each other a big "high five" and go get ready to do it again.
Damn, I love skydiving!

One of these days, I'm gonna try out skydiving. I'm afraid of heights. I've heard that it costs around $500 to have a diving session with an instructor attached to you. Oh shit! That would be awesome, but scary as hell.
